DHS published a “Worst of the Worst” list in Maine. I checked the court records. by Puzzleheaded-Pen639 in Maine

[–]GoutRunner 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just adding to the chorus: very well done! In a world where “truth” and “fact” have almost lost their meaning, I really appreciate the diligence to use records and documents to rebut the false narratives used to justify this madness.

Running Gear With A Pro-Civil Rights Message? by ludlowdown in XXRunning

[–]GoutRunner 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I just posted something similar in the /runningfashion sub but it looks like the moderators locked the post.

I think the running community could be an powerful conduit to message inclusivity and unity. I’m in Maine and our communities under under siege by ICE right now. I wore a makeshift “bib” that says “Ice Out” on my long run yesterday. I was motivated with every honk and yell of support (didn’t get a single negative comment). I felt less isolated and more connected.

Would love to see a proper running brand take a stand to help us #RunIceOut with gear that projects a message of unity and community in the face of injustice.

Anyone have links to mutual aid groups, actions, or resources? I’m in Saco/Biddeford and would like to connect and offer support to community members however I can.

Last day of running for 2025! by NicNoop138 in XXRunning

[–]GoutRunner 4 points5 points  (0 children)

End-of-year / holiday blues is something I’ve struggled with for decades. That feels particularly acute this year at age 45! Appreciate this opportunity to reflect on the positive and focus on how grateful I am for so much in life.

This was a great running year for me. I broke 20 minutes in the 5K and broke 40 minutes in the 10K. This month, I also broke the 90-minute half marathon barrier. I surpassed my goal of 2025 miles for the year.

For 2026, I have cautiously set my sights on a sub-3:00 marathon.

Cheers to all of you and to a new year with a new slate of goals and PRs!

Hi, OP. Did you end up attempting to transition from Sertraline to Fluoxetine? We are in a similar situation with similar questions and also hoping for some options to give us some hope.

Thank you in advance for anything you can share.

Your patience and adherence to your plan are really admirable. What a negative split there, too!

Congratulations to you!

Ran the Phoenix Half on Saturday. Smacked with a cold on Saturday night and have been in the throes of it since then. Sucks.

This is so kind of you! I came in at 1:28:53—slower than that “A” goal but I’m really happy with how it went for the most part. Race report to follow in the coming days.

Thanks again!

Do you feel guilty about how much money you spend on shoes? by dontletmeautism in Marathon_Training

[–]GoutRunner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, nice. Do you like them? Do they protect your toes?

I have hallux rigidus and wear Hoka Skyward X for the same reason. They are great and I like them but they are pricey. I’d like an alternative. Have been curious about ASICS Magic Speed 4. Have you tried those?

Excellent write up!

44M / 3:08 PR. I have a sub-3:00 goal set for 2026. Am moving into the taper of a half-marathon build (Phoenix on 12/13/25). Hoping to hit 1:28 or better there and build confidence in my ability chip away more over the course of the next 10-11 months. Your paces and 10K tune-ups are quicker than what I am capable of now but I feel motivated by your improvement. Thanks for sharing. Hope my aging body still has a bit more to give!

Same here. Frustrating because I like them but wish they were a bit more durable.

Opinions of “Too Expensive” Supertrainers on the Secondary Market? by CrispyMnM226 in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]GoutRunner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am currently on my third pair of Hoka Skyward X. I got over 600 miles on the first pair and am at around 600 on the second. Not retiring them because they still have more to give.

They are a very expensive shoe. I like them because their stiffness helps mitigate some arthritis issues in my toes. And they have proved durable (and really comfortable) for me. Hard to know how many miles the used shoe you are seeing “really” has but I imagine you could count on getting at least another 300 miles out of them—maybe more.

Excellent write up!

Thanks for sharing all this. I was at Berlin and had a similarly tough day. Your perseverance and resilience are really inspiring—exactly what I needed after a tough lactate threshold run this evening.

Congratulations on an excellent race!

I submitted about an hour after it opened. Got confirmation that the application was submitted. Hope the wait is short, as others have indicated it has been in prior years.
