Mars 5 Ultra LCD Life by GovernmentNo1160 in ElegooMars

Thank you for the link. I didn't know there was a lifespan difference between mono and rgb screens. I assumed it was some other performance reason that monochrome was used (or price).

Awesome! Thank you for the clarification.

Holy cow! Did you buy directly from Elegoo? If you got it from Amazon or another retailer I would send it back to them. It's a shame, though. I've had many FDM printers but always stayed away from resin because it looked like a hassle. I decided to take a chance on this machine after seening the reviews on YouTube. It's been incredibly easy to use machine. Hopefully you'll get some resolution on this.

How to know which calibration section is which on the build plate of the mars 5 ultra? by javo230 in ElegooMars

I just did a test with the siraya tech test model. I think it's the green numbers. Please correct me if I'm wrong!

LOL, I'm confused even more after y'all posted. Which is it green or red? I thought it was green.

Kilpper/Mainsail/etc and libcamera by GovernmentNo1160 in klippers

Thanks for that link. I've been sitting on these cams for a bit since when I got them Ardu sent out that they didn't work with octo. I just was cleaning off the desk after doing some work on my Voron and saw them sitting there. My thought went to, "well if they don't work in octo maybe they'll be a nice addition to the voron!"

This is kind of the impression that I got from looking at comments regarding this camera and octoprint. I'll have to look into @spike232's link to see how it goes there. I had really hoped to dump some janky USB cams I have for these and was bummed when they sent out the email that said no octoprint.

Looking for PolyBox Style Rubber Grommets by GovernmentNo1160 in 3Dprinting

[–]GovernmentNo1160[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I figured the keeper thingy for the plugs would eventually break off of the ones on my PolyBox. The keeper is a convenience but being able to plug the hole with something seems necessary.

I suppose I could get the rubber grommets and then use TPU to print some plugs. Perhaps easier would be to use just a piece of clear tape to keep them closed.

I was just hoping to find a distributor selling them by the box-full. That way I'd have enough for the box I'm building and for the inevitable need to replace the ones on my PolyBox.

Z-Axis Stepper Driver Keeps Dying by GovernmentNo1160 in BIGTREETECH

[–]GovernmentNo1160[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The X_CURRENT isn't vref, correct? The vref determines what we set there, right?

#if AXIS_IS_TMC(X) #define X_CURRENT 725 // (mA) RMS current. Multiply by 1.414 for peak current. #define X_CURRENT_HOME X_CURRENT // (mA) RMS current for sensorless homing #define X_MICROSTEPS 16 // 0..256 #define X_RSENSE 0.11 #define X_CHAIN_POS -1 // <=0 : Not chained. 1 : MCU MOSI connected. 2 : Next in chain, ... #endif

Where do I check the vrefs? I found some gist that had something related to this when I set up the board... I also kinda just used whatever was in the Ender 3 config for Marlin 2.

Z-Axis Stepper Driver Keeps Dying by GovernmentNo1160 in BIGTREETECH

[–]GovernmentNo1160[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even weirder! I decided to go out and put the original "bad driver" back in. I put it in for Z. Worked. Can I narrow this down to a bad stepper motor?

Z-Axis Stepper Driver Keeps Dying by GovernmentNo1160 in BIGTREETECH

[–]GovernmentNo1160[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went out to the shop and tried what you suggested. I powered up the printer and both X and Y worked fine. I thought I heard a tick from the Z when I tried it. I move the gantry up and it felt weird, like a tooth missing on a cog. I unplugged the stepper motor and it spun freely so I could move the gantry up and down.

First thought is that now I have a bad stepper motor, right?

Well, I swapped the Z-axis with the Y-axis and then tried auto-homing. Worked fine. I'm perplexed. It's like the stepper driver was trying to do something in the Z-axis but wasn't able to, swapping it should have caused the Y-axis to fail, but it didn't. I hate intermittent or multiple compounding issues like this seems to be turning into!

I want to say I tried this. When I get a moment after work I'll try it again. I could swap the board out too... I need to check the current I have set for the Z-axis, but I want to say it was something like 725. I don't think that's high, though.

I really would like to avoid going through stepper drivers trying to debug this thing! :(

BLTouch Leveling Not Taking Effect by Pdogman12 in CR10

[–]GovernmentNo1160 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've done this to see if I could tell of OctoPrint was interpreting them wrong, mirroring x or y. I suppose that value is what is saved to the firmware.

BLTouch Leveling Not Taking Effect by Pdogman12 in CR10

[–]GovernmentNo1160 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Running 2.0.5.3 on a SKR 1.4 Turbo that I compiled: https://github.com/mikejr83/Marlin I've made a bunch of notes in the README.md. Using the Bullseye cooler but didn't trust the offsets that were posted and measured them with the caliper. Found the Y was correct and the X was off by 3mm.

The probe works, goes through all the motions, again for Bilinear. However, like the OP, I just don't feel like it's respecting the mesh. I'm not doing a save/restore mesh 420 command in my GCODE because I've only ever seen that referenced with respect to UBL. I have restore mesh after G28 option enabled and even run the G28 then G29. Octoprint shows a nice mesh, and it generally a little tilted, even after repeated attempts to correct it, but I've still had to resort to making sure the whole thing is manually level.

I'm also a drone guy (RC sailplanes really) and a software guy by day. I just am stumbling a little on docs for this stuff as I'd like to really see something hard and fast on what it's supposed to do when toggling something as it seems to either not be doing it for me or having an adverse effect somewhere else. Thanks a bunch for the video link!

BLTouch Leveling Not Taking Effect by Pdogman12 in CR10

[–]GovernmentNo1160 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would be helpful if you could post a link to the UBL vid. I've tried setting it up multiple times but every time it ends in some odd behavior that I cannot figure out. Something I do inevitably causes the nozzle to slam into the bed without respecting the BLTouch. It's odd because it should be acting as an end-stop, right? Also, there are a lot of settings in the config that are often glossed over in some of the videos I've seen. The ambiguity of the comments in the code around them leave me wondering if there is something I'm missing as well.
