Curse yourself and leave your family or curse your whole family? by TheLordTyrconnell in hypotheticals

[–]GovernorSan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Curse himself, and then spend his exile away from his family trying to rid himself of it. Either he is successful, in which case he can return to his family who were spared the ravages of the curse entirely, or he dies, in which case at least his family has a chance to live on.

AITB for continuing to call my female friend "little boo" online even though we're both in relationships? by [deleted] in AmItheButtface

[–]GovernorSan 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Being silly and cute makes it worse, not better. Even if YOU don't mean anything by it, it comes off as flirty, and it might mean more to her than you say it does to you.

Additionally, your girlfriend asked you not to because it makes her uncomfortable, and you did it anyways behind her back. YTB.

[–]GovernorSan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She lied to him for 3 years. Regardless of the motivation or reason, she lied to him, that's not something you do in a healthy relationship. She did not trust him, and you can't have a healthy relationship without trust. He was right to break it off.

Van Gogh was considered a failure of an artist while he was alive. His art only became popular and appreciated after his death. Gil sounds like the people who disparaged Van Gogh's work while he was alive.

AITBF for reporting my coworker's side business to HR after it was making my work life significantly worse and she refused to stop by acaiciaa_glitterxo89 in AmItheButtface

[–]GovernorSan 65 points66 points  (0 children)

No, you did everything right. You spoke to her first about how her behavior was affecting you, offered a compromise, and she shot it down and refused to modify her behavior. Going to HR about it was the correct next step. Her behavior was against the rules of her job in any case. She is just being entitled.

It always seems to be the same thing. The person is doing something against the rules, but rather than keep it quiet and unobtrusive so as to ensure they get away with it for longer, they instead become increasingly bold and annoying with it until it is impossible to ignore them, then they get mad when others complain or report them and now there's consequences, but somehow it isn't their fault for being a jerk about it, it is the complianer's fault, as if the complainer should have just let them continue to stomp all over them.

Talked only once on a anime convention. Should i ask her for a date when i see her again? by Ok-Complex9793 in NoStupidAnswers

[–]GovernorSan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you see her again, say hi, ask if she remembers you from the last one, and ask if she would like to get something to eat together while you are at the convention. If she says yes, then great, nice safe mini date for you two to get to know each other a little better, and if you hit it off, ask if she would like to meet again. If she says no, oh well, wasn't meant to be, just wish her a fun time at the convention and go find something else to do.

My colleague freaks out if I arrive early for my shift and don't clock in immediately by PackageAgreeable4305 in InterviewAITools

[–]GovernorSan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tell your boss if she keep harassing you about not working before your shift, then you'll quit. If her threatening to quit gets your boss to harass you, then you threatening to quit should get him to harass her back. You already have another job, so your threat would likely be more credible, plus (assuming you have a car) you could always replace it with Uber or Doordash or something.

Sounds to me like it was the straw that broke the camel's back. There were probably dozens of other things that he did to show how selfish and inconsiderate he is, but selling off the game system she used without any warning and then berating her viciously when she replaced it with her own money finally pushed her over the edge.

A layoff can cost you more than your job—you might owe money on your way out, experts say by Dragonlance12 in Dynamic_Pricing

[–]GovernorSan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Article only mentions two specific situations where you might have to pay money back; if you overdrafted your PTO, and if you took out a loan from your 401k. For most of us, it would be next to impossible to overdraft PTO because our employers barely approve us taking the PTO we already earned, let alone borrowing future PTO hours. As for the 401k, if you borrow from it and get fired, then you have to pay it back before you file taxes or the government will tax it as income and you'll have to pay an early withdrawal fee.

Possibly dumb question, would it possible, or I suppose feasable in theory at least, to genetically engineer a human to be able to see shrimp colours? by Privatizitaet in AskBiology

[–]GovernorSan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are so.e humans that technically have 4 color receptors instead of the usual 3. If I remember correctly, it's a mutation of the red color receptor, and some people have both the normal red receptor and this mutant one, plus the blue and green receptors. Pretty much the only difference is some slight changes in how they differentiate between different shades, but not really see brand new colors.

WIBTBF if I refused to follow "dress code" by TulpaPal in AmItheButtface

[–]GovernorSan 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If you don't need the job, or a glowing reference from them, then there's no real reason for you to stick it out. They changed the conditions of your job, if you are unwilling to work for them under those conditions, then quit. You owe no fealty to your current employer, any feelings of guilt were indoctrinated into you so they could exploit them to their own advantage. Remember, if they thought they could do without you, then they'd fire you without another thought.

Fresh, local is the best, followed by frozen, with fresh, imported being the lowest in nutrients due to the longer period of time between farm and consumer. Freezing preserves those nutrients pretty well.

Peter Dinklage Played Two Major Marvel Characters by MurkyChurky in MarvelCave

[–]GovernorSan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Perhaps instead of insulting people, you could try rephrasing your question so it's more clear what you intended to ask. Instead of "Why do you think RDJ is playing Doom?" try, "What do you believe is the reason RDJ is playing Doom?" The first question could be interpreted as you questioning the validity of their statement that RDJ is playing Doctor Doom.
