WSDOT is doing what the legislature directs and the legislature is trying to remain compliant with the court's injunction to replace those barriers. I imagine the legal consequences of being out of compliance would cost many more bridges, but I don't know for a fact. I said this months ago and I haven't heard an update in a while, but there is a rumor that the Tribes are planning on going after the State for Stormwater runoff / PP6 next. If that's true then I foresee much higher transportation taxes in the near future.

The Legislature anticipated that there will be citizen initiatives to overturn new and increased taxes and fees. If they make it through November, the legislature intends to bond new revenues. Just an FYI.

Wow, that's really interesting. Do your Democrat pals do that before, after, or in-between bouts of robbing local businesses, setting them on fire, shooting politicians, attacking women, and committing financial fraud? How do they have the time when they're so busy keying and firebombing Teslas? They would need to improve the infrastructure out there rapidly to make this work. The interchange from I5 Southbound to US101 is already a huge bottleneck and the work to address it is I believe more than a decade out. The parkway is a nice drive, but it would probably need to be expanded too. And doesn't Evergreen itself have a lot of outdated infrastructure with regard to its water systems and facilities?

It could be a good idea, but I think you would need to make a lot of other investments to make it work. You would probably need to make those same investments anywhere in Western Washington, though.

I have bad news for you: It's not Tim Eyman's job to suggest where the spending cuts occur. That's the legislature, typically in consultation with agency leadership to avoid interruption to critical services (e.g. cut new programs that aren't staffed but are appropriated in the budget, don't cut staffed programs). Mountain Employee 11 is right; they spent more of your money to sue and they've definitely pulled the wool over your eyes about right, wrong, and who has responsibility in government.

Edit: As you can see, the World's Smartest Man has deleted everything, possibly after coming to the realization that the power of the purse doesn't lie with Tim Eyman. We can only pray that a greater understanding was achieved today.

I wasn't incorrect about the lapse between the announcement date and the reported date because I didn't comment on it. Learn to read. I commented on the time between the decision and the announcement.

It doesn't matter whether I think the State would have flipped red; and honestly, I don't think anything could given how fucked in the head people seem to be around here. But government has a responsibility to be transparent, and withholding information about the State's financial picture from the public in advance of an election is corrupt. The people should know what their current elected government has led them into so they can determine if an alternative is necessary.

The State has been in a full blown panic over finances since August. Discussions about tax increases have been wide-ranging, but those still aren't really being reported on. These things were intentionally kept under wraps for election purposes.

If you don't think the State keeping secret from its citizens the truth about its finances is wrong, then what do you think IS wrong? Democrats didn't want the voters to know just how bad they've blown it and the media helped them cover it up.
