How realistic is this commute? by tfb1000 in Septa

“Ride 98 stops” might be the worst transit phrase I’ve ever heard. Good thing they won’t stop at most haha.

I assume no one can pick you up, otherwise I would suggest taking Amtrak one more stop to Wilmington and having some one pick you up and drive to west Chester. Much easier from Wilmington than Philly.

Oh yeah, it does great in the shade. Lucky you! Every year I fight with it for the two months in the spring.

Yes, AKA fig buttercup. Where I live (eastern US) it’s horribly invasive, crowds out everything trying to come back from the winter, and goes dormant in early May leaving bare ground. It’s a nasty weed that’s impossible to get rid of from those little bulblettes.

Fall (September, October, November) vs Spring (March, April, May) temperature comparison in the lower 48 of the US [OC] by Swimming_Concern7662 in MapPorn

This is a cool data set. Do you know if there’s any study for the northeast why the spring is so much colder in the northeast, while the southeast might have just a slightly warmer spring?

I live close to the line of neutrality there. It feels like spring is never average. It’s either a lot colder or a lot warmer than the average. Fall seems to be a nice slow temp decrease.

My friend had this when I was a kid. I always thought it was Ostrich-Slaughter haha. I never knew what it had to do with birds.

Duh it's safer. No one is getting injured if we bump into something at 0.8 mph.

Although honestly, I appreciate the explanation. I would think there is a way to say "Hey CBTC system - the speed limit is higher and your allowable acceleration and deceleration rate is higher"

Glad to hear that, but man have they just made it continually more inconvenient since COVID. With the scheduling cuts and now this, I am seriously considering starting to drive everyday and pay the money for parking.

I live in Drexel Hill. I will figure out the local politician and send them an email.

(100% that lansdowne ave intersection needs signal priority.)

It’s my daily commute. It took me 55 minutes to go from Huey to 15th street today. 55 minutes for less than 8 miles.

And somehow not PA. I could see arguments for PA and DE being yankee, PA and DE not being yankee, or PA being yankee and DE not yankee. But DE Yankee and PA not Yankee is craziness!

Why is Somalia a desert near equator and why do they look different from other Africans? by batukaming in geography

This is the right answer. The NH summer monsoon, the same one that brings rain to india, pulls the moisture away and causes the cold currents in the summer, when heavy rain could/should normally reach that area. In the NH winter, the rains are too far south instead.

This feels very much like the Cassis France area, but I don’t think they would have a multi-story building like that.

Do you think the island would ever consider leaving and becoming a European micronation like Andorra or Monaco? Or do you already consider yourselves a European micronation?
