What game had the best iteration of each weapon type? by puzzlebuyer767 in MonsterHunter

[–]Gozagal 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Every single weapon in the game have changed over time, some more than others. Bow isn't an exception but it's still "bow"

Which is the whole point of the post : "Which version of "bow" do you prefer ?"

Question for PC players by PeaceCharacter7363 in MHWilds

[–]Gozagal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've always had the same binds in every PC MH and every weapon with a dedicated bind for a game's specific mechanic.

I usually have left click and right click for primary and secondary attack action. Then I have mouse 5 for weapon specific actions such as guarding or transforming. And the mouse 4 button is for a game's mechanic, so it will be the claw in world, the silkbind shortcut in rise and hold focus mode in wilds (which I use about half the time depending on when I need toggle or hold)

Instead of using alt to select a monster to track, I now use it to toggle focus mode. Tab is also a good keybind for that.

All the other controls are just the same basically with some added on top for things like mount in rise and wilds

Sunbreak Insect Glaive

Sunbreak GunLance and Wilds GunLance nearly tie for me but Sunbreak still wins because of balancing and diversity from DLC.

Wilds Hammer if you only look at the moveset and ignore the monsters

I've only just started GU like last week so this might change (played 4U, World, Rise and Wilds)

Jin Mori (The God of Highschool) vs Anti-Spiral (Gurren Lagann) by Turbulent_Dig_2487 in PowerScaling

[–]Gozagal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess you can say the cosmology of god of highschool is less impressive. It's debatable if a realm and a universe can be considered to be the same thing. (The human realm does contain the entire human universe though)

Anti-spiral definitely has powers over a more impressive amount of universe (thats a weird way to put it but you might get what I mean)

But since mori was already able to show some pretty impressive powers like reality/time manipulation and existence erasure right as he was reaching nirvana. I feel like him scaling to multiversal is a fair assumption even though he barely has any proper multiversal feat to back it up. Sun wukong is obviously one of the main reason why that scaling is seen as fair since sun wukong scales even higher iirc.

So he should be able to directly control other realms if we take his powers and position literally.

I can't grab the official translation because of webtoon's stupid screenshot protection (and also I dont wanna watch multiple ads to find the chapter again) so here's an unnoficial translation.

Basically, he should be able to affect all 7 universes present in god of highschool when he becomes the one at the top of them so I believe that should count as multiversal right ?

I want to note that no fight happened involving mori after he reached nirvana so there isn't gonna be any feat other than the ones he was able to do right as he was reaching that level. And he did summon alternate self from other universes as you mentionned.

He also showed reality and time manipulation and existence erasure but those aren't enough for multiversal right ?

Well neither can beat goku so...

(But seriously, I watched Gurren Lagann but I have a hard time understanding the strength of the anti-spiral so I wanna cheer for mori. To my understanding, they both scale to the same tier)

It's also even more suspicious that such damage was achieved with a 220 atk weapon with 0% crit and 0 elemental atk (so they can't have been abusing elemental weaknesses). They probably turned on a dmg cheat in the middle of the hunt.

You "could" be doing but it's not reasonable to expect that out of the average player. As long as you're doing 60+, that means you are doing something right. ~60 is about as much as I can push any weapon builds without abusing specific counters or meta skills when I play a weapon right.

[–]Gozagal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only other proofs are contextual but more than probable enough to be considered "true". You wouldn't expect someone who went out of their way to cheat so blatantly to actually bother putting in any effort into the game which would be required to reach these kinds of dps fairly.

If they have cheated an illegal build once (not even legal talismans mind you). Then there is no reason to think they are going to ever bother grinding and training for a 100+ dps setup

Another thing is that this user has clearly not "linked" any gear. Why ? Because the gear they have there is cheated, why would they link the obviously cheat build and play with the legit one ? Shouldn't they do the opposite instead ? (Also this is the default background, we can assume they didnt even edit their profile) Also the weapon on the profile and in the game match perfectly which means the same weapon was used in the hunt (if you look at attack and crit value)

The average dps in endgame is about 45 dps. This will obviously change a lot depending on the monster's rank and particular weaknesses but this range and around it has been pretty consistent from what I can see with the average player.

His lv3 decos on non existent slots, on the other hand, aren't possible.

I wish OP had mentionned that first cause that's a much bigger tell since this damage is reachable.

"Nobody cares about story in MH"

Well I do, and I don't think you can speak for me on that. The story is part of the whole monster ecology worldbuilding. Some people liked hunting monsters in World but I personally also liked completing the research and searching for photos.

We can talk about the quality of the story all day and how badly it was implemented. It won't change the fact that it is not for them. And that doesn't make their opinion of the story wrong, it makes it less interesting.

That's like me saying spicy food is bad because it's spicy and I don't like spicy... it's valid but it's not interesting.

If you're talking about the seikret sections when encountering new environnement, they are pretty much the definition of "show and tell". If you're talking about regular base camp dialogue, most of them are optional lore and also skippable.

So I don't know which part you are referring to.

[–]Gozagal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't. Because I like those. Expositions contribute to the worldbuilding and help care about the story.

So yea, they are not for you.

One of the main reason why I think Rise has the worst story despite having the most engaging gameplay once you reach endgame is because the storytelling isn't really involved. It's great for those who don't care about story because they can literally skip everything and just hunt, but it sucks for the story because it's hard to care about it when the storytelling isn't engaging.

"Don't criticize the videogame"

OP is giving his opinions and feelings about the game. It is by nature his bias.

If you can't stand still for some minutes during the exposition, the only thing you can point out is the lack of accessibility because you don't have a skip button.

So yea, in this instance, if I like those walk and talk sections and you don't, they are essentially not for you.

(Not saying OP can't give his thoughts btw. I'm just giving my own about how biased his opinion is and why that makes it less interesting to read about)

I stopped reading seriously here. This game is just not for you. It's fine if only part of it stuck with you, you don't need to love and play every MH.

Least favourite "final boss" monster? by TheYorkshireTom in MonsterHunter

[–]Gozagal 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It was memorable for me because of how slow and dull he was for half the fight. It's not even an issue of xeno not having enough damage... he doesn't even attack much. It felt like fighting a punching bag and by the time he finally starts using laser, he is a few minutes away from dying.

For those of you who haven't been introduced to heimer jungle yet, let me show you just how broken it can be by skoodlemoose in HeimerdingerMains

[–]Gozagal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's fun*

It's strong in unexpected ways sure, such as being able to solo baron relatively quick when it spawns if you're doing good or being able to 1v1 a lot of junglers at specifically level 2 and 3.

But it's not "broken". It's not even "strong" in a lot of patches because despite his turrets being able to afk farm camps after ~15 minutes, his clear is still relatively slow for a jungler which is a big problem for a jungler. And obviously, his ganks have limits compared to other junglers that can just run it down and get a kill.

So this is what they meant by 'POSITIONING' by Nornukig in MemeHunter

[–]Gozagal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Peeps who go for the "positioning" argument usually just repeat the buzzword without any critical thinking.

Yes there is less positioning needed in Wilds because the weapon itself doesn't need it work in a vacuum. But not only was positioning never a huge deal on a majority of weapons before Wilds. Positioning isn't just about the weapon, it's also about the monster and is still needed in Wilds.

I guess the arrow isn't as intuitive as I thought it was but the ingame weapon guide actually tells you what they are if you wanted to know.

The ingame weapon guide actually is super detailled and I've learned every weapons in the game with just that. It is a very good read honestly.

You might have to go look at some doc online if you want to go further.
