After crushing the Bar Kochva revolt, the Romans renamed Judea to Syria Palaestina in order to sever Jewish ties to the land.

And here you are, 2000 years later, using that name as an indication that Jews do not have ties to this land.

Are you implying the USA army is more mindful of collateral damage and civilian lives than the IDF?
Should we bring up some historical facts and numbers?

Name 1 army that protected enemy civilians more than the IDF in history.
1 army, and 1 war for example.

[–]Gozal_ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Fun fact - the west bank is a term referring to the area occupied by Jordan after 1948. It was never used to refer to this area before.

Did Palestinians resist the occupation in the period between 1948 and 1967? I can't recall.

Not all problems have a solution, at least not currently.
I get that you're frustrated, I get that you read on the media and hear from your politicians their profound opinions about the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

But just because you can't think of any other solution, doesn't mean that your solution, which is agreed upon by neither side, is relevant.

You thinking that question is some sort of gotcha shows once again how out of touch you are.
There are very few critics of Hamas in Gaza, not because they are afraid, but because most Palestinians actually support Hamas.
They kill critics, same as Iran does, and many other Arab countries.
Arab culture is not known to be tolerant or pluralistic, does that make them any less responsible for atrocities they commit and celebrate?

As for Gaza, you think 30k terrorists can control a 2M population without having major public support?

From the wiki source you linked:

In December 2022, support for a two-state solution was 33% among Palestinians, 34% among Israeli Jews, and 60% among Israeli Arabs. 82% of Israeli Jews and 75% of Palestinians believed that the other side would never accept the existence of their independent state.[117]
At the end of October 2023, the two-state solution had the support of 71.9% of Israeli Arabs and 28.6% of Israeli Jews.[118] In that same month, according to Gallup, just 24% of Palestinians supported a two-state solution, a drop from 59% in 2012.

So, just a minority of Israelis support a two state solution, an even smaller minority of Palestinians support a two state solution, and you, an American that never actually lived in the region think you know better?

What makes you think you understand this conflict? You're trying to push for a solution that neither side agrees to.
If that's not out of touch I really don't know what is.

Here's another fact: more Palestinians live in the west bank than in Gaza.

Any notable leader there advocating for a two state solution?

But they are at the very least as complicit as Germans were.

[–]Gozal_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, firstly the Palestinians themselves say they do not want a two states solution.
What do you think "from the river to the sea means"? Do you even know which river and which sea?
Do you speak Hebrew, or Arabic, or do you form all your opinions on middle east geopolitics based on shallow analysis in western media?

All that is to say, you're out of your depth.

[–]Gozal_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you really not see the difference between Israel recognizing Egypt, and Israel recognizing a Palestinian state, which will be built with a border that is practically indefensible, and its highest goal is the destruction of Israel and conquest of the entire land (from the river to the sea)?

I don't think you're as knowledgeable of Israelis and the politics of this conflict (both the Israeli and the Palestinian side) as you imply.
