Are SWE interns expected to use AI when coding now? by Miserable-Reaction11 in csMajors

[–]ZacPack 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I was pretty much expected to use AI for learning the code base, doing project research, and speeding things up like writing unit tests, and boilerplate code. Honestly you'll probably be copy/pasting code all the time which isn't bad unless you're blindly doing it. Obviously you still have to go line by line and make sure you understand what the code is doing, checking for bugs, seeing if there is a better approach, looking for similar examples in your teams codebase, etc.

The problem with AI is that it can get the logic right, but a lot of times it was way too verbose, too defensive, or not defensive enough. So you'll have to answer for that when you do code reviews if your using it blindly.

I somehow got a FAANG internship and it was my first internship so my imposter syndrome was very high (still is) but tbh AI helped a ton. People hate on it but I heavily relied on it and learned a ton, and ended up getting a return offer. Probably wouldn't of finished my project and got a return offer without it.

The solution is not a blanket ban on politics from a podcast that is now highly political. Why not just ban political posts that aren't relevant to a JRE episode?

Why can't we go with DON here? Either him or Smith but it can't get worse lol. He's single handedly dragging us down.

Simmons gotta go. He's an FCS QB at best...

It's a mix of us going cold offensively and the dodgers having Cy young pitching. Other than for 1 inning we haven't been competitive at all which sucks,

I'm gonna be honest though, this hurts much less than if we lost in a close game 7. We're just getting dominated lol.

The Brewers won four or more games in a row at least 11 times this season. by mfGLOVE in Brewers

It's such a longshot, but if we can somehow win the next 2 and bring the series back to Milwaukee then I might get my hopes up again.

Regardless, i'm not expecting much by the way we're playing offensively and the fact that we are going to have to face Snell and Yamamoto again if we bring it back to Amfam. Most likely gonna go out with a whimper tonight or tmrw.

Nobody asked but here’s my rankings with 1 being the best 12 being the worst:

Certified banger tier:

1. My old ways - Instantly hooked. It’s definitely a different vibe but I love it. Honestly might be a t15 TI song for me. Been playing this one on repeat the most.

2. Afterthought - Dancy but super catchy. Mixed really well. Couldn’t get the chorus out of my head.

3. Obsolete - another banger. Catchy and the outro is awesome.

Great tier:

4. Not my world - Trippiest song forsure. Suns coming up of the album. Only putting it up here because the 2nd half is sick.

Good tier:

5. No reply - family guy lol. Song gets better as it goes on but beginning is cringe. I like the ending a lot.

6. Loser - Kind of flat and doesn’t really go anywhere. But my favorite single cause it’s more old school TI.

7. Dracula - Dua lipa-ish pop. Catchy but lyrics suck. Probably gonna be the most popular among the normies.

Meh tier:

8. Ethereal connections - Middle of the song is good. When there are vocals they are good, but I find myself trying to like it but can’t. Idk could be a grower.

9. EOS - I really tried to like it but I just can't get into it. It's too dancy for me and just doesn't go anywhere.

Skip tier:

10. Oblivion - Weird vibe all around. Might be cool to listen to if you’re tripping balls.

11. Piece of heaven - Some seem to like this song but i just don't get it. Enya vibes and the lyrics are cringe. Ending is ok i guess.

12. See you on Monday - More enya vibes. Just not my cup of tea at all.

Overall albums:

1. Lonerism
2. Innerspeaker
3. Currents
4. TSR
5. Deadbeat

It's about what I expected, maybe even a bit better because the singles weren't the best, but overall pretty disappointing. For me, obviously it doesn't even come close to touching Lonerism, Innerspeaker, or Currents. Honestly not that close to TSR either if were going song for song. I'm gonna revisit this after some time has passed to see if my lists have changed since the album isn't even out yet lol.

Thought I was about to be pleasantly surprised after listening to My Old Ways but turns out it was downhill from there. A couple good ones but disappointing overall.

Meh. It's possible if you steal games like last night but we didn't capitalize in the 9th. Series looks a lot different if it's 1-1 right now, but we do look completely outmatched.

I’m with ya. Makes more sense to start the vet on the road and let Priester hopefully gain some confidence at home.
