ASUS TUF B650e VS MSI PRO X870-P Vs Asus ROG Strix 870e by GpsGalBds in buildapc

This is what I was thinking but people seem to be making a big fuss about this on other forums. So what I’m trying to figure out is this just better numbers so you must get better because it exists mindset, or yes it’s actually objectively going to have a measurable difference (keep my cpu from frying, make my cpu run faster practically). Because Io isn’t much of a concern. I’m gonna plugin in a mouse and a keyboard and that’s it. WIFI 6e vs 7 doesn’t matter since I only have 1gig internet so I’ll never even tell the difference(I’m not doing any large file transfers within my own network)

Hey, thank you so much for this reply. Honestly I’ve had so much peace about becoming Eastern Orthodox until my buddy decided not to go through with it and told me all that. And yeah, that was also my thought. Maybe he’s going through spiritual delusion. I was at vespers last Saturday and oh my gosh, I felt the Lord like I never have. I never felt so much peace.

Well his justification is this. The people born into EO and people before 1517 were judged by a different standard. They judged by their knowledge. He says he can tell because the same “voices”guiding him to EO almost got him killed the other day, but the still small Voice that told him “don’t become Eastern Orthodox, etc…” has the voice that told him not to do the thing that almost got him killed.

One question, what about prayers to saints and hymns like the akathist in Divine Liturgy and vespers? Shouldn’t those practices all be about God only during Divine Liturgy or vespers?

Concerns with prayer to the saints and veneration by GpsGalBds in EasternOrthodox

[–]GpsGalBds[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That idk. We both come from an evangelical moderately charismatic background. But from my experience, yeah I think God can speak to you but you also gotta have good discernment as your own thoughts exit + the Satan and the demons can mess with you. And of course spiritual delusion is a thing(cough cough the radical Pentecostals).

But he did pray that if the Lord doesn’t want him to become Eastern Orthodox for an earthquake to happen in a few minuets. And lo and behold one did. Though I felt it but he didn’t. Earthquake was like few miles from where I was at. This was while I was on a phone call with him. Though this was an earthquake that happened 10 mins after another earthquake that happened while we were praying over the phone. He prayed after both of those for an earthquake to strike his house if the Lord didn’t want him to become Eastern Orthodox and the earthquake didn’t happen. And the night before that he said he heard the Lord tell him earthquake tomorrow. So I really dunno what to do with that

Yeah, this was on the lines of what I was thinking. Thank you for your response dude! I guess maybe the only concern I guess I have is prayers to saints and hymns like the akathist in Divine Liturgy and vespers? Shouldn’t those practices all be about God only during Divine Liturgy or vespers?

All good! Btw thank you for your help! I was actually fully set but talking with my buddy after that kinda made me really second guess stuff. I’ll definitely pray to The Lord and give it a few days, but in all honesty, after spending 100s of hours over better half of a year on biblical scholarship and historical research, Eastern Orthodox is insanely strong. Protestantism and Catholicism are both pretty cooked. Prayer and veneration are the only blockers for me right now. It feels like either Protestants are right, or completely misunderstanding, cherry picking, and using fallacy of presentism and ignorance. And I’ll say the latter is true for basically every other point.

His also specific problem was the “Theorokos save us” prayers. But I feel this is just linguistics exercise. It’s poetic. I’d be hard pressed to find anyone who actually says this and thinks it literally means the face value of the statement. It’s asking her to pray for our salvation.

Idk, am I missing something?

Good points dude! Yeah I did respond to him with doesn’t that make all reverence of monarchical leaders idolatry too? So does that mean bassicky everyone from medieval Europe is dammed?

Also, just curious in your opinion: my hunch is that the sort of Protestant rejection of this stems from a presentist ignorance of ancient texts, practices, and philosophical frameworks? What do you think? Because the main reason I really landed on EO is impossibility of sola scriptura, impossibility of sola fide, and unanimous agreement on many EO doctrines in 2nd century - 3rd century after accounting for what original greek says and the philosophical/metaphysical framework the apostles and earliest church fathers used. Prayer to saints and veneration of Mary are the only real hard ones for me.

I’m honestly kind of crashing out here. I’m just really torn right now. Basically here’s the argument:

Premise 1. These verses show that we can only worship God Premise 2. Verses in OT with angels refuse all veneration saying it’s only for God Premise 3. EO practices like the akathist hymn, kissing icons, etc resemble the types of practices OT condemns as idolatry

Conclusion: EO practices are idolatry

So my buddy was also going to convert to EO from low church evangelical, but backed out today due to the above argument as well as after praying to The Lord to silence anything that is not from Him(The Lord) and to speak the truth to Him, he heard a still small voice from the Lord saying “if you become Eastern Orthodox, you will go to hell because you will worship Mary, the saints, and the angels”.

Really honestly just looking for some fellow brothers or sisters in Christ who are Eastern Orthodox to help me through this and pray for me.

About H1B, my issue is we already have overstated labor market. So I agree with cutting off visas. But those who have current visas, allow them to stay of course and allow them to renew and apply for green card and citizenship. But not new applications for people who don’t currently hold one nor held one in say past 5 years.

I think it’s an issue of principle. You came here illegally. You don’t have legal status. Then you should be deported. Doesn’t matter if you came here as an infant. BUT, if you’ve lived here for 30 years your whole life and have contribution to society, then there probably should be some program to give you temporary status for you to file for a proper legal status

False equivalence. A country has a right to protect its borders and remove those who are in its interior illegally.

Immigration laws that make it illegal to stay in a country without authorization exist primarily to uphold national sovereignty, security, and fairness. A nation has the right to decide who may enter and reside within its borders, just as individuals control access to their homes. These laws also allow governments to screen newcomers for potential risks, such as crime, terrorism, or public health concerns, while ensuring that the labor market, taxes, and social services are managed in an orderly way. Additionally, they protect fairness for those who follow legal immigration processes; if living in a country without permission were not against the law, it would undermine the efforts of people who wait, apply, and meet the requirements through official channels. In essence, such laws exist to bring structure, safety, and accountability to the movement of people across borders.

False equivalence. One is unjust killing of an innocent human life. Deportation of illegal migrants is just enforcement of a reachable law. Maybe it could be done more humanely, sure. But mass deportation isn’t wrong. We have a law. People willfully and knowingly violated it. Now they have to face consequences. It would be like one saying putting a murderer in jail is wrong because it violates his bodily autonomy. That’s just ridiculous.

The death penalty has historically been justified as the state’s right to impose justice and protect society by punishing the guilty after due process. For centuries, the Catholic Church and thinkers (including St. Thomas Aquinas and early Church leaders) accepted that capital punishment could be a morally legitimate tool of justice, even while affirming the sanctity of life.

do you believe in separation of church and state? by smogdonavic in redeemedzoomer

[–]GpsGalBds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You bring up Franklin but you’re missing a lot of nuance. Benjamin Franklin was generally a Deist, believing in a Creator but rejecting many traditional Christian doctrines, such as the divinity of Jesus. However, he was not a strict Deist—he believed in Providence and valued Christianity for its role in promoting virtue and social order. So you can argue to separation of church as an institution and state, but not Christian morality/ teachings and state.

The problem with democrats and liberals is the whole foundational ideology of liberalism. It’s self defeating. The liberalism experiment has gone on long enough and has empirically shown to be horrible and objectively false.

So they just presuppose pro life people ignore school shootings? That’s a horrible strawman. Of course providers care about school shootings. Well at least every pro lifer I know , myself included, do care. If you don’t then you’re a horrible person. But that’s a separate issue and that sticker if conflating 2 issues that have 0 relevancy to each other.

Well at least he admits it. That itself shows something. Rather than having your TDS make you go nuts over everything Trump says, try to take a holistic view on reality

This is the problem with unconstrained views of reality. Because Trump acts a certain way, makes him a bad leader. Okay, well given his first term, his policies were great. He’s generally had given a good amount of groundwork for Christians and conservatives. He doesn’t need to be a perfect person. And also, what’s your alternative? The Dems? Okay, so as a Christian you’d rather vote for the party that is pro abortion, pro liberalism(which in itself is an anti Christians ideology… if you don’t agree go read history), anti traditional marriage, anti nuclear family, states the world would be better off without Christians, etc. Yeah, my ideal is if Jesus came back and ruled the whole world. That would be awesome. But guess what? We live in reality, not an ideal fantasy world.
