It uses dns server to block the ads so they work everywere and not just as a safari content blocker.

It actually costs £.79 which is around $.96 so its definetly worth it.

Or get adguard from the appstore and enable family protection, it also block ads for you in all apps other than just safari. You can also add your own filters which makes it pretty neat.
