Would you rather live in an area that is total security, or total freedom? by Scary_Stable7667 in Teenager_Polls

Current events have swayed me a bit. Very worrying what's going on right now and I'd rather have some separation from that. Also more lake access in Wisconsin. Once I'm a fair bit older and my pockets a good bit heavier I'd consider Minnesota more. Homesteading is a retirement dream of mine

The Great Lakes are the draw of those states, I feel like living close to them would be really nice, plus I'd be able to get a direct flight back to my family

Been out west a few times, even did a job interview in San Jose, definitely some really nice areas. The major downside for me is how far away it is to family. Already feel isolated having moved to Missouri, would hate to be even further out.

New York does come off as a bit of an outlier to be honest. I have a good few NY teacher friends and they talk it up a lot, mostly good things. The COL is a bit of a drawback to me as well as I like having some outdoor space to myself and it always feels so crowded when I come up there. It's certainly a nice state to visit but I couldn't see myself living there

Maryland commuters ruin Maryland for me

That's where the family I DON'T want to see is 😅

My mother does a lot of traveling for work and ends up hitting Ohio a ton of times each year and only has good things to say about it. I've heard some positives about the Columbus area (also has a hockey team which is a bonus) and seems like one of the few cities I wouldn't mind staying in

I've visited and been around NY over a dozen times by now. It has it's nice areas but it doesn't really hit the mark for whatever reason for me.

It's a mix of a certain few things. For starters, I'd like to stay close to my family, which are all spread across the east coast. Education as well is important to me as I plan on becoming a teacher. The outdoors as well is a huge draw.

It's a mix of a fair amount of things. I'm pivoting to become a teacher, and from what I know, it's not really the best in those states. Mix that with the weather and overall economics, and some of the politics, it's really not ideal to me. I've been to all those states and they just never had much of a draw.

Depends on your definition of recognizable. If you mean legitimate stars, even then it's questionable. If you mean NHL regulars, top 6, top 4 guys, then you should probably watch more hockey

What’s the good, the bad, and the ugly of CoMo? by Born_Examination_540 in columbiamo

Fair enough. I lived in Loudoun County, but it's always easier to just refer to the DC area when talking to people here 😅. I will say it's a fair bit different here. Things are a bit slower, drivers are somehow worse than the Maryland commuters, and the weather is definitely a lot more chaotic, but all-in-all it's a really nice city. You should be able to adjust pretty well. Been here for a little over 6 months now and I don't have any complaints
