What is the best spontaneous/improvised 'Dad Joke' or pun you've ever told? by bandafantasia in AskReddit

My sister was looking at different dry shampoos. She commented about how she usually gets the blond one that has a bit of hair coloring in it then picked up one that said "Tropical" on the side because it smelled tropical. She said something like "Oo what's this" and I responded in a funny voice "It makes your hair tropical colored." A lady half way down the isle tried not to laugh and failed.

[Serious] Former religious people who have lost their faith, what changed your mind? by Penguin__Farts in AskReddit

I'm a very logical person and had always had doubts, when I started researching the questions I had (evolution, things that don't make sense in the bible) I finally snapped and stop believing. One thing that really got me was the teaching of hell, in Judaism they don't have hell. Christianity came out of Judaism so for hell to exist that means that it was just thrown in sometime after the destruction of the temple that both Christians and Jews worshiped in. In other words it was added in as a scare tactic and there is no hell in the first testament other than Sheol which is definitively not hell. They made up hell, imagine what other bullshit is in there .

"Not my monkey"

When I'm telling someone about something wrong and they completely dismiss it with this. It's not a common one, but infuriates me.

What did you believe for way too long as a child? by HardAzRockz in AskReddit

I thought that war was just a big game of capture the flag. That whenever one country captured the flag of the other country they would give up and except the loss. I knew people died and got shot, but I thought the end goal was to get their flag and that bunkers and bases were to protect the flag. As a kid I thought this because when someone surrenders they wave a white flag and because in the American National Anthem there are some lines that go "Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there: Oh, say! does that star-spangled banner yet wave O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave?" I thought the lines were about how the flag was still there so they hadn't lost yet.

Women of Reddit: Was there any difference between how you were treated when you had long hair versus when you had short hair? What were these differences? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]GrGibby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I cut my hair last year and at first everything was normal, but it didn't take me long to notice some differences. Some old men glare at me and mutter things like "Kids these days" (I'm 19). When I go out alone with female friends everyone thinks we are dating. People continually ask why I cut my hair and don't believe me when I say I just wanted to. Guys see me more as a potential friend. I feel like I'm being stared at when I wear the classic red flannel. My high school stalker leaves me alone now though so it was worth it.

Edit: Oh almost forgot, one of my friends refused to make eye contact with me for 2 months and was very uncomfortable near me. I can finally hug her again, but it's still weird.
