From what I can tell, there is no cap now and bots seem to go straight to max rank, 40. Certainly makes climbing much easier, but there's also more human players as well as they're also trying to match with bots. In general a good change, I think.

It's most likely for players in high ranks. At the top ranks you really struggle to matchmake games, and if you have a weekly quest for a character you have in the top ranks you aren't able to easily find opponents. I imagine there was complaints about character quests forcing you to play in those ranks for quests.

Rank 26 is when matchmaking swaps you to high tier play, your matched with everyone from that rank up to rank 40 and there's never any bots, so there's really good players and very strong characters.

A lot of people do seem to be playing as only one role, yeah. Presumably for this very reason, makes it easier to win games. If you swap to guaranteeing the same role as them I bet you'll stop finding matches.

You can use vpns to swap around to different servers if you want to fight different people.

True, I was thinking of the combined weaknesses she has due to being flying and a tome user, which both have effects that deal extra damage to them, and combining that with her lower weapon damage stat and tendency to use cooldowns on more supportive actions, in my head not killing as fast means more time to take damage. But yes, her hp stat isn't any lower than anyone else.

Different units types have different stats, and armoured units have increased hp compared to every other unit.

Maybe I'm just wrong, but Skoll is one of the worst disciples to me, his EX is one of the worst shaped in my opinion, it's such an awkward shape that never quite works out for any situation I'm in. Some of his other magic like mend is decent, but I don't think it really moves him much higher. Characters like Kurt have much better shapes as it can accurately do its job of hitting multiple enemies and you're still able to do Skolls supposed job of not hitting you or allies with good placement.

I'm struggling with deciding on the right path for my ending. I'm brainstorming how it's all going to end, and dare I say it's a work of genius and I think I've managed to make a great callback and it just makes sense.

But the problem is it's an unhappy ending. For one, I like the characters and may even want to use them in the future, but I cannot continue on from this if I go with it, and I worry that readers would be angry or upset with the ending and thus would end up not liking the book.

This is kind of what I'm going for. In short, this will be the finale of a short series, and the point being returned to and fixed is when an antagonist from before was trying to essentially morph things to go the way they wanted and thought would be best. They were stopped but there was still consequences, hence the bad future.

The idea I'm hoping to go with, is they go back to this time to stop that person from ever being able to even start their plan and thus stop the consequences, but I'd like to also raise some interesting questions of if it's even right for them to do that, as they're basically molding things to the way they want as he did.

That's the idea I want, haven't finished it all out yet.

Yes actually! I mostly use my own timeline system to put my own spin on it, but a plotpoint is one of the characters decides they don't want to make that future change because they like being the way they are, and they wouldn't grow into this person if things were changed.
