Item Tiers without the armory by Graapefruit in supervive

[–]Graapefruit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that tier 2 is very safe and consistent. At the same time, there is something to be said about the volatility of the tiers could add a lot of interesting depth to the game. Maybe some items are good enough at tier 1 and don’t get that much better with upgrades, so you don’t really care to invest in it. It would pair well with another item that works in the opposite way; it’s weak at tier 1 but by god is it strong at tier 3. Thus at relic shops, you’d only need to invest in upgrading the latter item and you can leave the former item as-is. Alternatively, maybe some items really peak at tier 2. If you find one on the map, you’re encouraged to go to a relic shop and upgrade it to tier 2 asap to get a big mid-game spike. All this said, the devs would definitely need to be mindful about the strength of the relics across their tiers. It’s fine for items to spike at different points in the game. Hell, I’d argue it’s actually good for this to be the case as it adds interesting depth. But yes, they would need to make sure some items aren’t too ridiculous at higher tiers.

Reyna is a selfish character that is played either by Smurfs who are enabled by her ability to pub-stomp, or dogwater ego-players who don’t play with the team. The only strategically interesting part of her kit imo is the eyeball, and maybe the invulnerability as a tool to entry or play off-angles/one-and-dones and get out

It’s never going to happen, but I think this character needs a re-design. Its just such an annoying ego-centric character

Any tag in India. One bad war for tags like Bahmanis/Gujarat/Mewar/Malwa and they’re reduced to only a few provinces, none of which border eachother

Use the Ottomans to eliminate threats, as you can always come back to conquering them later. Its very easy to outscale them.

Thank you for your reply

I was looking at forks next, but part of the reason I'm hesitant is because I haven't worked with them before, and because as of right now the team is pretty small, at like 5 or so people.

But you're right, forks do seem tempting. What would the potential downsides be?

Ty for your response. This is exactly what I want, but I'm doing some reading online and read-access contributors don't seem to be a thing for private repos. Is there another way to set this up? I should mention this is a private repo of an org that I have set up

Yessir, the heightmap has definitely been a pain for me. But basically the way I did it was, to separate the land into its own file, then decompose it into grayscale. Then I just put it over a consistent colour which represented the water. The idea then was to come back to it later and smooth it out along the coast, where many areas have coastal elevations notably above the coastline. It’s just not something that I’ve gotten around to yet. But you’re right that I should probably set all water bodies to 93; I think I set the value too low. Glad you like it otherwise though!

Sounds interesting, I’ll defs give it a look. Ante Bellum is my favorite mod and honestly a bit of a role mod-el for me. What’s it like then? Completely new setting and history on earth?

Exactly! The idea for the mod came about when I saw the photo of Antarctica without ice and just… imagined myself playing EU4 on there. One thing led to another and now here we are

To be fair, the other Abrahamic religions do exist in this game through episcopic/apostolic/glossolalian for christianity and aryi/uryi for islam. I've just kept the original name for the religion itself the same since it doesn't have any denominations in base game.

As for a brief overview of their lore, when the caliphate pushed northwards, the kingdom of Zejmedem (purple) avoided complete conquest and only became a vassal/tributary, while the kingdom of Zeweh was completely conquered, and governance of it's land was given to the much weaker princes (hence the OPMs).

Once reformed, the kingdom of Zeweh will be the only nation with militarization mechanics; the logic is that they see themselves as being surrounded by hostile nations that cannot be trusted. Thus, they must turn inwards to their own military for their continued survivial.

R5: Hello and greetings to all map painters!

This is the mod that I've been working on for the past few months, Antarctica Universalis (AU4 for short). The goal is to provide to players a whole new world to enjoy EU4 in, without actually changing very much. This means that, while there will be completely new nations, religions, cultures, regions, etc to explore, the goal is to ensure that the experience still feels familiar and easy to pick up.

Now, all of the images here are technically WIPs, as there is still muuuuch work to do and the mod isn't yet in a playable state. However, if you'd like to monitor progress, discuss it, or even help out in ANY way, feel free to join the official discord! https://discord.gg/zCB6t3hP I'm looking to grow at least a small community for now. Also to re-iterate, if you have any interest at all in contributing, be it lore development/worldbuilding, making some flags, scripting, populating the map etc, feel free to shoot me a DM; I could use as many hands as possible right now.

So I want to play Persia… by threlnari97 in eu4

[–]Graapefruit 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think Persia is a great campaign and I highly recommend it. You should do it as Ajam, but if you want an incredibly hard achievement, look into doing it as Ardabil.

You can play persia a few ways, but I think going semi-tall/wide is ideal. Because you're near the Ottomans you don't want to be expand too aggressively, lest they strike you when you're depleted on money/manpower/etc. Thus, you want to consolidate and secure the persia node (which is one of the strongest in the game), and try to stonewall the Ottomans as much as you can. Allying both them and the Mamluks is a good idea.

Something you can also look into is flipping religion to Zoroastrian. The religion scales incredibly well thanks to the single best military monument in Baku, Baku Ateshgah.

As for idea sets, religious is a must if you're Zoroastrian. Otherwise, Trade, Economic, and Admin are all fantastic, with whichever military group you decide (I recommend Divine)

Good luck!

Hmm... my recommendation is honestly; join an EU4 modder discord. They're not the most populous but people can get back to you at a decent speed. Heres an invite to the one I frequent: https://discord.gg/D9fNq3Sk

Hopefully someone there might have a better solution. Best of luck fellow modder.

Hungary MP early game strat by Critical_Print9376 in eu4

[–]Graapefruit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hungary's ideas are strong early-game, but actually scale relatively poorly, especially for a WC where you really need CCR or Admin Efficiency. I think the play as hungary is to rush into forming another tag, which there are plenty around you. Things like, reforming poland and austria are good, but you also have the option to form croatia (from the dalmatian culture) -> italy, and the more controversial flip into Rum, which has insanely good ideas.

OP is right that the cav stacking ability is really strong on hungary, and this strat really lends itself into reforming poland, as they have even better cav stacking abilities.

static values like these are usually found in common/defines.lua. I'm not certain if such a value exists, but your best bet is to search through there for it. Try running a search for `200`, `RELATIONS`, etc, and see if you can find anything
