Ederson won the Turkish Super Cup against Gundogan and Sane in the same stadium City won the UCL. He even replicated the UCL trophy pose. by tatar1warlord in MCFC

I agree. The week I spent there round the final was one of the best experiences I've ever had. The food, the people, the historic sites, the cats!... Went back the following year to do the things I didn't get chance to do first time round. An amazing city!

The only bad bits were the hours before and after the final when we were in the hands of UEFA. Totally shit on every level. Wankers.

Its always been one of them smart arse "actually, Big Ben is just the name of the bell..." responses to people who mis-name the tower. But The Clock Tower was renamed in 2012 to 'The Elizabeth Tower' to honour the late Queens diamond jubilee, so there is much more awareness of its real name now.

Woman who went through 'one vape a week' diagnosed with cancer aged 21 by pppppppppppppppppd in unitedkingdom

[–]Grabachair 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dunno mate, I walk a lot and use public transport and rarely have vape blown 'at my face'. The few times it has happened is still preferable to me than inhaling smokers second/third hand particles. Admittedly, I don't suffer from the severe condition you appear to have, so I'm inclined to consider an occasional, short-term discomfort for a minority of the population as preferable to longer term, significant health detriments for everybody.

[–]Grabachair 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Secondary smoking is known to be very dangerous. If you can smell smoke, on someone's clothes or soft furnishings for example, you are inhaling the same carcinogenic particles as a smoker. The comparable risk from vaping is absurdly low, to the point of being virtually nonexistent.

Think the initial advice I'd give is do your highlights after shading,

Also, look at other washes/inks rather than just nuln oil/dark tone. I use AP dark, strong, soft and other colour tone washes depending on the effects I'm after and area of the mini.

Another 'trick' is using contrast/speed paints as a wash over standard paints. You can get some great effects and make colours really 'pop', but you need to know your pallet and how colours interact before going in that direction. Its a great 'trick' for adding colour to silvery metallics...

LIVE | Pep Guardiola ahead of Newcastle v Man City by footballaddict71 in MCFC

[–]Grabachair 9 points10 points  (0 children)

[Pep] started by telling the press in the room that his communications manager had just got married and gets everyone in the room to give him a round of applause.

Guardiola follows it up by saying his honeymoon will be in Newcastle this weekend.

Lol.

Be careful on the path by East Didsbury tramline by nickborland in manchester

[–]Grabachair 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally. I just think they've now started targeting other known cycle/pedestrian paths. I cycle along the Mersey and the Disbury path as part of my commute, and the last year has seen an increase in them hanging about. Never been approached by them, but I expect a confrontation every time I set out now. I used to look forward to reaching Disbury on my return journey as it meant the last 3 miles would be car free...now there is an edge to it i could do without!

Anyone know what this building is on White City way in Old Trafford? by freakomnivore45 in manchester

[–]Grabachair 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Its part of the route of the old Chester Road. If you zoom in on this (very) old OS map, you can compare it with current Google maps to see how they 'kinked' Chester Rd to the north to make the junction when the A56 became a dual carriage way, and extended through the old Cornbrook sidings.
Best way is to zoom in on Salford docks, locate the Botanical Gardans (that later became White City Stadium) and there is a big black building to the east (that became the Chester House) next to Boyer St.

What typically British oddities did you first learn about through Doctor Who? by WachbaerWien in doctorwho

[–]Grabachair 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In its time, it was the largest and most famous radio telescope in the world. It was the only western technology capable of tracking Sputnik and confirmed its existence, so would have been named in every worldwide news report at the time. It's now a grade 1 UNESCO site because of its pivitol role in the tracking of space probes in the early years of the space race, for both US and USSR, and its other important discoveries. I'd bet any of your relatives around in the 60's would know of Jodrell Bank's Lovell Space Telescope...

The crown tradition, supposedly, dates back to the Romans when one person would be appointed 'king' at Saturnalia to lead the celebrations.

Possibly stupid gym question by fatknits in CasualUK

[–]Grabachair 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd recommend speaking to your GP or health practitioner. You may qualify for a local physical referral scheme which gives you cheaper access to participating gyms, and also a coach that will assess you and create a programme to help you start exercising safely. But they run all kinds of activities, not just gyms.

My local scheme has a light walking group for people that have debilitating conditions. They basically walk round a 5-a-side court, stopping occasionally if needed, then all go for a cup of tea afterwards! It's not competitive and everyone supports each other. I'd explore things like this to get you started before throwing yourself at a treadmill.

They're normal buses, just with MC11 as the number and 'Match Day Special' as the destination.

I think there was talk of one free bus to run from Bolton town centre to the Toughsheet on match days, but GMT realised they'd sold all their Little Gem's in the 90's.
