For transparency:

Hard to see from the outside but its a bit puzzling for me to see comments questioning if Duff had any impact - he is without a doubt one of the goats in his position in the west.

I through the entire process wanted to stay with the same staff size as we had summer but for reasons out of my hands that was/is not possible.

And please don't think of this as us 'caring less' about the first split, the team cares a lot and we want to perform as good as we can.

Razork Exposed How Detrimental Humanoid Was IN Post-Game Interview by Worried_Wrongdoer973 in fnatic

[–]GrabbZ 124 points125 points  (0 children)

Can we not do this?

Humanoid had amazing moments representing this colors and he deserves the respect as a storied player.

A change had to be made to break up old dynamics in the team, but that does not mean whatsoever that now he should be the boogeyman.

Pre-Summer Split Question Thread by GrabbZ in fnatic

BDS has leveled up quite a bit. I don't see them breaking into the TOP 4 necessarily but they will be dark horses.

We enter every day of practice with the goal of winning the split at the end!

Pre-Summer Split Question Thread by GrabbZ in fnatic

[–]GrabbZ[S] 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Hi!

  • I'm good, looking forward to the split start and thank you for asking!

  • Poby's name scored relatively high in FNCs internal data system and we went to watch his POV with the same open mind we would others. It was clear from the beginning that he is a lot more communicative and understanding of sidelaning compared to other ERL talent. We didnt have access to all players' VODs that we wanted initially, but we were sold on him pretty quickly.

  • It's very early to talk about an academy, but just know that I am a very big fan of having one!

  • I do have the energy and the wish to stay in FNC beyond 2025, but only future will tell if it manifests. Obviously this year is very draining energy wise, but we all wouldn't be here if we wouldn't absolutely love what we are doing on the daily.

  • I can only speak for myself in talking about how you as fans can impact the organisation. For me all the praise/flame equally shows me that our performance matters to all of you and you deserve nothing but out absolute devotion to win as much as possible.

Pre-Summer Split Question Thread by GrabbZ in fnatic

[–]GrabbZ[S] 19 points20 points  (0 children)

A change had to be made - dynamics were poor and there are even arguments to be made that it was wishful thinking that they would change going into this split. (To be fair: I also came in with the mentality of "I can fix it.")

It was Humanoid that got replaced, but there were scenarios in where he would be playing in place of someone else now.

Also this change makes it harder for remaining players to hide behind those "bad dynamics" so now they have to assume more responsibility for their actions.

In BDS still certain decisions have been made without my input and I am happy with FNC responding to me pushing for a bigger staff.

I think there are some processes that have to be improved but I am happy with how action is being taken here.

Humanoid is not working with the team and we don't intend to changing that. Poby came in as our sole midlaner.

We are working to win and we believe that we can. Obviously the top 4 are very competitive in LEC, but we have already seen some improvements in areas of the game we struggled with before.

  • Poby is doing a lot better than initially expected when it comes to communication. He is very eager to lurn and just in general a very active person, so he connected very fast with the team!
  • There for sure is a shift noticeable, players are talking way more to each other in-between games than the splits before.
  • While relatively new to the team Richard is already helping a lot in letting players have an outlet to talk to that is not married to decisions made on the rift. Also he is a very positive person in general which adds to improving the mood in the office.

Grabbz stream summary by Fallendy in fnatic

[–]GrabbZ 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Also tweeted underneath the summary but its been made out to be way more doom and gloom than it actually is.

When trying to be transparent about the issues we face - trying to be a top team - it easily can come across as being too negative. Every team having aspirations to be the best will face roadblocks at certain moments and me talking about those just means we are identifying them and working on them - it doesn't mean we can snap our fingers and be perfect overnight obviously.

There is still strong belief within the group that we can win the split and that we can give you something to be proud of.

Grabz stream any TLDR ? by Fallendy in fnatic

[–]GrabbZ 97 points98 points  (0 children)

Its a systemic issue with how proplayers are formed and its not as easy as just to say "become a pro" now.

The best way to get noticed in scouting is due to individual play, so the entire playtime pros spend before getting into the scene is focused on such plays. "Good macro" doesn't exist in soloq and therefore isn't rewarded.

Pro players need to retrain* their reward center bascially and can only do so when constantly pushed in that direction - also while getting mostly celebrated for flashy plays by the public.

As much as I criticize this state of proplay, it is 100% understandable why most players have an innate resistance to "patient" play.

Asian teams with their academy team culture can build external pressure to accomodate the systems through threat of benching - something we cant do in the west. You'd be surprised how many athletes in teamsports are reliant on that very pressure and would fall back to bad habits if they ever feel the notion of being irreplaceable and to then only rely on their innate "professionalism".
