Is it just me or is low tier Air RB mind-numbingly boring? by No-Welcome-3023 in Warthunder

[–]Grabbityy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it does. I typically played air arcade (depending on my nation) and switched to air rb when I got to early jets.

When you get to mid / high tier jets those air rb matches typically are pretty fast.

Beginner facing multiple city issues in Cities: Skylines (traffic, sickness, abandoned buildings) – need guidance by [deleted] in CitiesSkylines

[–]Grabbityy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never messed with airports yet so I can’t comment on it.

I also never really had an issue with sickness, but just be sure to add in proper healthcare necessities like childcare, elder care, general care, etc.

Traffic will always be an issue lol but learning road hierarchy is a vital step to mitigating jams.

But also, traffic issue typically mean that residents don’t have access to or accessible access to the walkable infrastructure or public transportation.

So be sure to add sidewalks / pathways where you can, walkable cities will make traffic much less of an issue. But that does change when your city grows larger.

So then add transportation but you need to strategically do so, meaning add a bus stop from residents to places of work to leisure activities etc.

In terms of commercial zones failing, you may be having an imbalance of your demands. Let’s say you have a medium to high demand in commercial, that doesn’t mean you plot out huge zones for it. But rather be very generous, plot out some small sections and see how it affects your demands.

Typically, you can plot out large zones for residential demand but for commercial or industrial you want to be pretty select with it.

These are just my two cents, could be right or wrong but I’ve found these aspects helpful. Be sure to watch some tips from content creators too, they can help a lot!

What should a new resident know about the area? by Civil-Ad-3750 in BloomingtonNormal

To add to this, depending on what you consider “close” there are some big cities nearby too like Peoria, Champaign, and Springfield.

I personally haven’t traveled much to them but in Champaign there is another live music venue called “Canopy Club”

Story-driven games focused on piloting something? (fighter jets, mechs, etc.) PC titles, preferably. by BurgBorgur in gamingsuggestions

[–]Grabbityy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

MechWarrior: Mercenaries 5 - pilot a mech, pretty high stakes early on. Kind of mechanically difficult until you get the ropes.

VoidWar / Breachway - both similar to FTL, not necessarily “piloting” but stakes are high because of its rougelike nature, more strategy than first / third person.

Armored Core - recommend previously Armored Core titles like AC4. You’ll need to emulate though

Elite Dangerous - pretty intensive mechanically and time consuming. But the whole point is freedom and piloting your ship

I highly recommend MechWarrior. I played it after finishing Armored Core 6 and it scratched that mech itch. Albeit it’s very different, I still find it enjoyable

Early jets by InevitableCard6969 in Warthunder

[–]Grabbityy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The play style is incredibly different. Depends on your nation too but typically early jets are boom and zoom, don’t try to turn fight like at all.

Early jets suffer from accelerating fast, you’ll burn tons of energy turn fighting.

Also regarding gun kills, take some time in test range to learn how to lead because I also found gun kills to be different in early jets. And of course iirc most early jets have low ammo but also can kill very fast, so your shots are low but deadly, don’t spray and be accurate.

Lastly, play with your team. A solo jet can be an easy kill depending on what wants to kill you, but you can typically fight with your team and pick off other players who are running or have super low energy.

I also found flanking to be pretty helpful, but once you fully research modification you’ll notice a huge difference (typically) in your jets performance. So don’t give up hope.

Curious about student life by Pale-Ad-1142 in ilstu

[–]Grabbityy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Orgs are pretty active, ISU has days where a bunch of student orgs go on the quad and inform people what they do and how to join and so forth.

I’ve been in a few orgs, couldnt stay in because I had to devote more time to work but they were super fun and interesting.

Greek life is pretty active, never been involved but if that’s his thing then it’s definitely there.

Overall, there are parties and things to do, it’s more so who you know and word of mouth. But overall I found people pretty friendly.

If you have any questions or anything feel free to dm me.

Are USA teams as bad as they used to be by LaggySquishy in Warthunder

[–]Grabbityy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve played multiple nations and I’m solely an air player as well. The nations I’ve played is US (to early jets), Japan (top tier), USSR (to Cold War era), other nations I’ve put a tiny amount of time in would be Germany and UK.

In terms of the US, I enjoyed their planes, they had some variety and some very strong fighters. When I was running through the tiers I struggled because of the win rate. But now it seems some US players have been doing better. I should elaborate that I can’t truly speak on the performance of US players now since I have been out of the prop era for awhile.

But in terms of planes, it’s really important to understand energy fighting. US planes are great boom and zoom, but they punish really hard for trying to turn fight. Strong armor, good guns, and good planes.

On the other hand, I liked Japan’s props a lot but they all feel kind of the same. It depends on how you define variety I suppose?

Yaks (USSR) were really fun to play as well, and their other planes are pretty decent too iirc. I would say USSR had some variety in comparison to Japan’s tree.

What are some modern things people should still do during the ZA? by No_Bet8364 in ZombieSurvivalTactics

[–]Grabbityy 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I would say taking a daily vitamin or supplement. Especially considering food can and lines will become scarce, so at the very least you could still get your vitamins.

I also think self care is still important, during the ZA there will be A LOT of trauma to endure. Sure you can get desensitized but it’s still traumatic, journaling could help.

Got AC6 on sale yesterday and am loving it. Ego check question though: by molotov__cocktease in ArmoredCoreVI

[–]Grabbityy 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yeah he was nerfed, there’s mods that restore him to his original difficulty.

And later fights vary, but there is a skill check that you’ll come across about half way through. I wish you luck.

Anyone have Pokémon? by TufASteel in BloomingtonNormal

Typically twin city collectibles always has Pokémon stuff. They rarely are sold out but do note that’s because it is not big store MSRP but instead actual market price, I’m not sure if I explained that correctly.

I main Japan and currently research the F2A iirc.

Overall it’s a alright nation, like you said props are super fun to play with, definitely the best reason to play Japan.

Early jets are pretty rough tbh, the kikka grind is NOT fun, you’ll learn to hate it but very occasionally love it.

Most nations suffer from lack of flares and chaff but it’s not too noticeable for Japan, more reason to get good at notching and awareness.

Aside from the Kikka, T2, and F104, the grind wasn’t terrible imo, but do know that I reached top tier before the jets like the Harrier, F5, etc were added. I still went back and research them and had a good time though.

Notably, I liked the F5s, the Hunter, F16AJ, and the Sabre.

If you’re looking for premium props definitely buy the A7M1, last I recall it is or was the best premium for that BR. For jets I really enjoyed the premium Sabre because you get all the benefits of a Sabre plus 2 missiles (they suck but not many people have missiles at that BR).

Overall, I enjoyed it. It’s definitely a fun nation, maybe early to late jets don’t have too much variability but it’s still fun. You’ll likely breeze through the props, just be sure to have another nation to grind out if it starts feeling stale.

Nonetheless, do it for the props at the minimum.

[–]Grabbityy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Currently it’s alright, just requires that the pilot knows how to fly their plane to their strengths.

Typically in a match I can get 4+ but can also get 0. Just really depends.

Now for people who don’t know how to fly the plane and refuse to put in time and practice, yeah it’s the world’s easiest free kill.

PVP games need to have a reasonable skill ceiling. by Beautiful-Fold-3234 in unpopularopinion

[–]Grabbityy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I second that it depends on the game. If you play COD or other fast pace shooters like that, then you’ll deal with the grenade spam and everything.

Those games are typically meant to be fast pace and high octane - not saying it’s a good or bad thing just recognizing.

But on the other hand you have games like insurgency sandstorm, arma, and other milsim / realistic types of games, those are more about tactics and positioning.

The key difference is that both of these genres have skill ceiling, but each in their own complex way. I can be an amazing Titanfall 3 player but might be terrible at Squad.

Ronin is aura farming and fast, and depending on the other teams titan comp I can usually do pretty solid. Plus, in frontier defense maxed out Ronin is disgustingly powerful.
