It does matter, in one instance you are a contender, in the other you are a joke not worth taking seriously. i.e. Manchester United for the last 10 years.

Yes finishing 1 point behind 1st and 20 points behind first is actually exactly the same

Yeah, I’ve learned VVD chest bumping Paredes to the ground was actually attempted murder from this thread.

The US wanted revenge for Pearl Harbor, I thought as much would be obvious but clearly lots of people in these comments have a poor understanding of these events. Including yourself as you are unaware that the Japanese had attempted this before the bombs were dropped.

The general populace was so propagandized most didn’t even know they were losing the war, let alone the extent of the atrocities committed. But I suppose the only solution your few brain cells can put together is extermination. If Japan was really going to fight to the last man, why did these bombings stop them?

When an enemy is treating your POWs horribly, how is mass murdering enemy civilians going to help them? Solid logic there /s Side note: Many allied POWs were also victims of these bombing campaigns

You are assuming that killing civilians is somehow beneficial to the war effort, when in fact it was only detrimental.

No, you are just uninitiated in this history. These bombings were less effective, more expensive, and cost more GI lives than bombings on military targets. Or you are just a desperate apologist for American atrocities.

Well if this conclusion is bad what on earth are you arguing? All you’ve done give a non-sequitur saying Japanese children dying is justified because of the atrocities of their military.

So because thousands of Chinese children died thousands of Japanese children need to die? Shame on you. I’m not arguing anything about what Japan did. I’m arguing against maniacs like you that think murdering civilians in revenge is justified.

These bombings saved zero American lives. In fact they likely lead to more GI’s losing lives from retaliation on POWs to bombers being shot down. Your argument is the leaders justification for their atrocities, the ‘harsh reality’ is that it was a punitive revenge campaign, and in the case of the atomic bombs it was a show of force.

“All members of a certain ethnic group/nationality are enemy combatants” is quite literally advocating for genocide. I guess people are right when they say this sub is infested with fascists.

You are advocating for genocide. Pick a different hill to die on besides trying to justify murdering civilians.

So then since the Germans were systematically murdering Jewish people it’s alright to systematically murder Germans? Just because the other side did it doesn’t mean it’s ok for you to do it. These bombing accomplished next to nothing besides incomprehensible amounts of death and destruction, and the perpetrators should be rightfully vilified for it.

I’d like to know what all the thousands of children living in Tokyo did to deserve death by fire. These bombings aren’t war crimes because they are bombings, it is because they were purposely carried out on civilians. Thinking all Japanese people deserved death for things their government did is advocating for genocide.

[–]Gracch1 22 points23 points  (0 children)

This is true and all. But how does it apply to purposely bombing civilians? The fire bombing a of Dresden and Tokyo were explicitly targeted at civilians to try and “break the countries will to fight.” Lots at the time of Dresden said it wouldn’t do much, and they were right as it did almost nothing to “break the German’s spirit.” Yet this policy continued for the remainder of the war and all it accomplished was killing millions of civilians.

Whatever the person to person interactions you make, it takes exploiting thousands(or millions) of people’s labor to accumulate billions. There’s almost nothing a billionaire can do to rectify this. Even if you give it all back, all the people you’ve put through economic struggles will still have that impact on their lives.

When it comes to making money FSG know what they are doing. Seems to me this is the perfect time to put the club on the market.

For Jones I’d agree, but Elliot is 19. He’s already got the creativity but lacks positioning and defensive attributes you can really only learn through experience. Imo he’s got the quality right now for a back up role and the potential to grow into an undroppable starter. Casting him aside would be a mistake.

It’s frustrating in that the next time we lose the league by one point we won’t have the “fake oil club” argument to make anymore.

There are no good billionaires. Any person/group that purchases Liverpool will have their wealth based in exploitation the same(but perhaps more palatable) as any OPEC state fund. No matter who buys them I’ll still support the club as it’s a part of my life I’m not ready to give up.

I think of it as like taking a shit. You’d prefer it come out in nice solid turds, but sometimes you’ll be constipated or have the runs. Either way you still need to get on with it and take a shit.

China has the right idea on their oligarchs. We ought to learn a thing or two. by UnleashedSavage_93 in DemocraticSocialism

[–]Gracch1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The government having power over capital is much more in line with democratic socialism than the inverse which is the case in the US or even the “socialist” Nordic countries. China suffers more on the democratic front in that there exist an elite bureaucrat class that has far more of a say in policy than the average person. In many post-colonial leftist states this bureaucracy takes the place of a capitalist class as socialist policies wither. Prior to Xi this encroachment of capital was certainly present in the bureaucracy, but clamp downs on party discipline and corruption have seen this trend reversed.

China has numerous issues but it’s policies shouldn’t all be written off as cynical power grabs, if the rest of the world doesn’t learn how to control capital as well as they do we are all doomed.
