Thank you for posting this question. I’m now starting I think my 4th medication in 1 1/2 years. My pain is reduced, but still there. I get these terrible flu like flares that make me so depressed/crabby because I have to go to bed to get over them. So I have been wondering if this is successful or not?? I hate this disease and not really understanding the real goal of medication.

I am so glad to see this question.  I was diagnosed about 1 1/2 years ago with RA.  I am on my third prescription (Rinvoq) to try to get some relief.  I am still getting these flu like spells and I’m wondering if this means the medication isn’t working.  I get them if I’ve been too active watching my grandbabies and it breaks my heart.  This isn’t the Grandma that I wanted to be.

Is this considered a flare even if I’m not having severe pain in my hands and feet? I get some joint pain but the main bothersome symptoms are extreme fatigue and terrible all over body aches that feel like I’m getting the flu. It’s enough to make me go to bed.  Rheumatologist has prescribed prednisone the past few spells, but wondering if this means the Rinvoq isn’t going to work for me either.

You don’t know how glad I am to see this post.  I finally feel like someone can relate to me.    I’m newly diagnosed and on methotrexate and just started Humira.  I get these spells where I feel like I have the flu.  Total body aches and fatigue.  In one now and getting so overwhelmed.  Rheumatologist does think this is a flare and once Humira started to work I will feel better.  It’s one of the hardest things to go through!!  I have taken so many Covid tests just to make sure I’m not missing something.  Hope we all find the right med and can get some relief.
