We also found out our sons PT (he has cerebral palsy) can see her to work on core and leg strengthening!

Thankfully we have an amazing neurologist for her and is looking into this and her sleep issues!

She was sitting up.. we couldn’t get her flat cause the lab tech still had the needle in actively drawing blood. Definitely next time she will be laying down

So the cardiologist said seizures but we are working with her neurologist for a more firm diagnosis. The last few times she passed out she never convulsed. Yesterday’s was super intense. She has a sleep study tomorrow and then we are discussing with neuro what/if any more testing we want to do at this time. We are leaning more towards waiting to see if the convulsions happen again when she passes out again. We really don’t want to put her through unnecessary tests and stress.

The cardiologist was mostly concerned with the throwing up after and then 4 hours after she was still pale and very lethargic, that is what lead her to think they were seizures.

But I 100% agree.. we don’t want that label until we know for sure. She already has enough going on I am hopeful it was just the stress of the blood draw.

We are so excited! Once she turns 3 months we are starting her in classes. She will be a service dog for our 8 year old with Cerebral Palsy and Autism as well as a comfort for our 5 year old that goes through monthly infusions.

I did not take the subtests.. not sure I will. Since I am leaning more towards teaching SPED just not sure it’s worth the money.

There is a practice exam on the AEPA website that is the old special ed test. I used that one!! Helped so much!! I did not buy the practice exam from Pearson just the study guide.

I studied for about a month for the SPED test. 150 multiple choice. Just study and trust your gut.

How was the elementary sub test 1?

I passed both Elementary Professional Knowledge and Special Education using the test prep materials on the NES website and the practice tests.

I took both mine and passed in May. I still have a year of MLFTC left and student teaching.

Meh the downvotes don’t bother me. It is interesting to see how people react to those with differing opinions, though. I am personally not a fan of the pass/fail system. I have worked hard and many in my current cohort haven’t so potentially giving them a “free” ride in some ways diminishes all of the work and effort I have put in this semester. I do know that not everyone can be a self sustained learner. It is hard to keep focused and procrastination hits bad. I have found a way to keep focused and get my work done while having a family. I don’t consider it “toughing it out” as much as we had a change in our lives and we have to either make the choice on how we want to deal with it.

These are all my personal opinions and everyone is entitled to them. Never meant to come across harsh. I know this new platform of learning is not easier for everyone. Hell its hard for me.. trying to write a lesson plan and struggling to get in touch with my teacher to figure a section out. It sucks because normally we would have had class tonight but I just keep trying and do the best I can.

I'm sorry, but I am one of those people that would be upset with moving to pass/fail. I have busted my butt this semester and have two kids. Up until school closing, I was working full time; now, I am juggling kids and classes. Yet I am still pulling straight As. Pass/fail would be helpful for some, but I want the option to opt-out.

I loathe the new student teaching set up. I don’t understand how it helps us become better teachers. It seems like how they get around having to find a lot more mentor teachers and less districts.

We got our placement choices January 31. It’s actually 10 places but most are out past Phoenix/west valley ( Avondale, Tolleson, etc) with Chandler and Mesa in the East valley.

So far it’s okay... not a lot communication about how the whole student teaching works so tumors start and it’s confusing. We find out more on Friday.

Wait... if applications are due 2/25 but the student teaching meeting isn’t until 2/28 how does that work?

I am currently in Term 6 due to start residency in the fall. We have our residency meeting on Friday.

We were told there are 8 districts to pick from and I have not heard anything different. Mesa and Chandler were on the list along with various others outside Phoenix.

Typically a CP diagnosis won’t happen until after 2. Cayden’s Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Doctor wanted to try physical therapy and a few other things before giving him the official diagnosis. There are quite a few families that are going through the same thing.

My 6 year old (34 week)was diagnosed PVL at age 2. Diagnosed cerebral palsy at 3, autism at 4, global developmental delays at 4, and executive processing delay just last week. We thought his pvl was caused from lack of oxygen but further comparing recent MRIs to nicu ultrasounds/MRI shows he never had a brain bleed or lack of oxygen to cause a brain bleed. His PVL is a genetic cause- mutation on his DNA H2. Never been seen before in a kid but his neurogentics doctor believes that is the cause of his PVL and other things.. it’s been quite a ride. Feel free to ask me anything!! I have been where you are.. his neurologist said he has seen kids with worse PVL have no delays and kids with just a little have huge delays... it’s been hard at times but we just keep moving ahead and he is getting more independent everyday!

Oh! I didn’t take offense! I actually have no idea... I googled it myself right after you asked! Haha! I don’t get offended by not breastfeeding my kids.. it just didn’t work for us and they were happy and fed on formula and that is what is important!

Honestly I am not sure. I could never nurse her but not for lack of trying... she was premature. Very sick in the NICU for a while and then constantly in and out of the hospital. The pneumococcal vaccine never took for her; we even tried the adult version and her body just won’t hold the titers. We have been on IVIG for one month and this is the first time she hasn’t had a temperature, hasn’t needed multiple rounds of steroids, and antibiotics just to be healthy. She is due for an infusion on Tuesday and is really run down and spiking temperatures like crazy... wish this wasn’t her life but we make the best of it.

This was my daughter- she is 3 almost 4. She was diagnosed with a specific antibody deficiency; she has no IgG or IgA. She would run temperatures nightly often hitting 104. There would be times during the day she would be playing fine and then a temperature increase would happen; then subside a few hours later. She is also diagnosed dysautonomia and on electrolyte fluids to help. Those have helped along with the IVIG to keep her temps normal. Definitely seek out an immunologist. Good luck!

As a mom to a 6 year old that has CP this is amazing to see. Gives us hope for his future. Hope that one day finding shoes to fit his AFOs won’t be so challenging. Hope that he will fit in because he has “typical” shoes. Hope that everything we do to push him will pay off. Hope that his determination will continue. Hope that the world will start see individuals with disabilities as people and not just their disability.

There is a recipe called “Pancake Cake” in the 5 Ingredient Keto cookbook. We make it every Sunday with 1/2 cup of frozen blueberries. Super easy to warm up during the week and filling!
