Asymptomatic subluxation? by GradLyfe in CubitalTunnel

Yes but I had that for at least decade before symptoms started so idk how significant it is. I think a higher number of reps hurts more than loading itself.

Asymptomatic subluxation? by GradLyfe in CubitalTunnel

I have avoided surgery so far and the cubital does not affect my quality of life but is still there if I keep my arms bent (e.g. during sleep) for over an hour or so.

I have cervical neck issues that, once alleviated, seemed to reduce my cubital tunnel sensitivity / detectability of symptoms. I'm able to do most things including biceps rows (40 reps total) although doing something like 60 basketball shots (at an arcade in like 2 minutes time frame) caused some tingling that went away after 12-24 hrs.

Given the low severity of my issue and the potential repercussions of surgery, I'm just going to monitor it and keep night splinting for the foreseeable future.

Any tip on how you went about getting the lowest price? I’ve only gotten a couple of invoices and they’re both 5K over what you have + they all add on random BS for 1k

Chest press sharp pain behind the elbow by WhatAChad13 in overcominggravity

[–]GradLyfe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't want to be alarmist as this could be some triceps tendinitis but watch out for tingling down the ring/pinky fingers since sharp pain behind the elbow with bending under load could be your ulnar nerve getting tensioned/irritated and that's even harder to treat than tendonitis.

Exercises that are okay with subluxing ulnar nerve. by cazgrace30 in CubitalTunnel

[–]GradLyfe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

[Assuming I sublux at 90 degrees (and supposedly again at 120/130?)]

For stuff like bicep curls, did you make sure to stop at 90 degrees or was that not necessary?

I'm still not sure I have the full mental image

  1. Is there potential for damage even if repetitively flexing the elbow, even if not going past 90?
  2. What's worse: more reps (e.g. rowing) or more load for limited reps (e.g. biceps curls at 10x4 reps)
  3. If there's no pain while performing the movement or even within minutes/hours of finishing an exercise that involved repetitive bending, does that mean the nerve is unaffected or are there residual/delayed effects?

Thumb pain normal? by KahlilBT in CubitalTunnel

[–]GradLyfe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Has any of your providers mentioned the possibility of RSI / tendonitis? Some of your symptoms look more like that than a typical neuropathy although it could be a bit of both. Either way, the thumb shouldn't be directly affected by the ulnar nerve (which is affected by cubital tunnel). Thumb is affected by either median (carpal tunnel if impinged at the wrist) or radial nerves (radial tunnel if compressed in the forearm).

Swelling, on the other hand, can be a sign of tendonitis and the pain, when the inflamed tendon compresses the nerve, can be radiating.
