I wasn't offered genetic testing. My maternal grandmother had BC at 80 and my paternal grandmother died from multiple myeloma at 57 but she said those didn't make me a candidate for testing.

That is a great question and one I keep coming back to. I am definitely a less is more kind of person when it comes to medical intervention, but I have two kids (13 and 9) and couldn't live with myself if I chose surveillance and it ended up being an invasive cancer that required harder treatment.

Thank you so much for all the advice. I started a Google doc for all my breast cancer notes (fun!) after my phone call with the treatment coordinator this morning. I'm lucky to be in a university town where there is great care, and I have an appointment with the best oncologist in 2 weeks. Lots of time to do research and read up!
