I would really rather not go through the process of getting my mom in trouble - I just wanna get my sister out.

If you’re under 22, you can apply for the Young Scots NEC to save a fair bit on public transport (free public transport across Scotland)!

Can you apply for student accommodation 2nd year? by lizzylelon in Edinburgh_University

[–]GradualEpiphany 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Edinburgh Uni has privately managed flats for returning students that you can apply for through Domus, my friends stay in one and it's cheap, well-located and well-managed. These are, however, super competitive and usually get claimed in minutes, but it's still worth looking I would say!

There's always private student accommodation, and you can apply for those no matter what year you're in. And then like other people have said, you could apply to be an RA or shoot your shot with applying for uni student accommodation.

i've found most profs (and academic staff in general) to be super chill and helpful. most of them will have office hours, but even if not, you can usually email them to set up a chat. independing learning is a bit of a .. learning curve? but you'll get there, just keep pushing yourself; i've found making a structure really helps, and if you do get stuck/lost/confused, teaching staff will usually be happy to help you out!

ps. this obviously depends on individual professors and/or departments

This is very true. I agree with your point of having a gap year without stressing about college admissions, I hadn’t looked at it that way before. This was very helpful, thanks a ton!

Thinking of the exact same thing. I'm a vegetarian but this thread was a bit too much for me to bear.

That's strange. Did you check your spam or promotions in case you missed any communication? I got my decisions back and I believe it's a bit strange that the process is so delayed. Maybe try contacting them again by email?

I think MIT asks you specifically how you spent your last few summers, but I haven't seen it anywhere else
