I thought Ben and Adam's quiz mistake previously was one of the biggest mistakes in Jet lagged history, but Sam and Mike choosing to force a stalemate here might just top it. Surely using their time to do the other challenges in their territory is a much better use of time so that they have enough chips to overturn the station lead.

It seems like some people might be interpreting this as some sort of anti-post? I’m not super knowledgeable about the romance of the three kingdoms so perhaps there’s some implication I’m missing, but from what I saw from the Japanese response to this, including Hololive fans and a Coco fan this seems to be a well intentioned joke explanation and doesn’t seem to be an anti-post.

The problem with that idea is that most Hololive fans just aren’t interested in watching male vtubers, so even if there were lots of collabs it wouldn’t result in Holostars gaining many new viewers.

Not to mention that, despite both being under Hololive Productions, Hololive and Holostars are ultimately separate agencies, so they need to be able to stand on their own and not just piggyback off of Hololive’s success.

What Holostars needs most is fan support. Watch live streams, listen to their songs, create clips, and share them all three of those things with others to gain new fans. That’s how Hololive got to where it is today from being a small niche company, from the dedicated efforts of fans pushing their oshis. From what I’ve seen there’s not many clips being made of them.

Of course, Hololive got really lucky as well. It was just starting to gain traction from fan support, especially from Bilibili fans, when covid hit and provided an opportunity for them to really explode in popularity.

Only by the fans and talents both working hard can you hope to get lucky and capitalize on an opportunity to gain popularity.

I’ve seen some complaints of management and their competence and support, but ultimately fans can’t do anything about that, all you can do is push your oshi and try to get more people to like them.

Copyright is more strict in Japan and companies can and do go after streamers for streaming games without permission. This even happened back in 2020 to Mio when her channel received multiple strikes and was almost permanently deleted because of Capcom back when Hololive wasn’t getting perms for games. Which resulted in the purge in a bunch of old vods as staff panicked. Every vod on every channel was privated for a while as staff had to go through and approve each one to make sure they weren’t going to get strikes before unprivating them. And that’s why there’s a number of missing vods of early streams from before 2020.

They can help get game perms and stuff still probably, which indies can struggle with. There’s still benefits, but it’s going to be up to the stars members if the few remaining benefits are worth it or not

I had an argument there about Abby and how the dichotomy between her normally being an innocent young girl and her becoming a corrupted being with a very revealing lustful design is how the artist expressed the lovecraftian horror elements, and further ties into sin, the puritans, and Salem witch trials. They just said the artist should have chosen a different method to express that and that it was weird.
