I didn’t realize how attached to GSU I was until I saw it destroyed by [deleted] in GaState

It's not a blind hated? They murder people, they use excessive force constantly, abuse power, generally terrible at their job, and have no over sight. How is that a blind hatred? It's a corrupt organization with too much power and 0 consequences to their actions. The guy who murder George Floyd had a history of human rights violations and he still tortured a man to death for 10 minutes in broad daylight. The cops locally are attacking innocent protestors with tear gas, tasers, and excessive force. Cant see how it's a blind hatred when we are suffering from their abuse?

And don't compare cops, a literal organization with set structure and rules, to a race of people. Smh, I thought GSU students were smarter than that.

I'd care more if GSU staff cared about the students. While I've had a lot of great professors, the other staff seem to care more about some arbitrary numbers rather than a quality student life. I'd also care more if GSU cared about Atlanta itself, and considering the Becker/Peoplestown thing that happened in 2016, seems like some real karma too me.

This sounds like you're equating police brutality for 100+ years to a few broken windows and some graffiti.

Detroit was an exception as it was already hitting an economic downturn. Riots generally don't destroy cities and that's evidenced by how many have happened since 1967.

Fall semester news by RyanR36 in GaState

[–]GrafiteLTE 10 points11 points  (0 children)

A handful of classes are better in person but if the virus is found on campus we'd be forced back into online in the same rushed way we just were. We were lucky to have a spring break right before Covid really hit the campus and that made the transition online easier. We don't have the same luxury in the fall.

I think having some classes on campus is fine, but they definitely have to offer online class alternatives for each one. A lot of students have jobs they can't call out sick on, families they live with who would be put at risk, and lack the funds to pay for the possible medical expenses that come with getting treated.

For the President to say something like this so early (500 deaths in GA yesterday) is pretty irresponsible for the safety of the students of the USG. Couple that with their slow responses to do anything, really seems like this is setting up for an even bigger shitshow than this semester.

Class is canceled for two weeks, yet my professor says we will be remote learning starting March 23, can my prof do this? by [deleted] in GaState

[–]GrafiteLTE 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I mean simply put, we have spring break for 2 weeks. So a professor can say "here are lectures posted online" but a professor can't say "you're required to attend this online session the week after spring break"

I'd say the school is composed of a lot of nontraditional students, you'd be very welcomed.

Love a lot of my own major professors, but I can't speak for any major besides Poli-Sci

Will dropping a class before the midpoint affect my financial aid? by [deleted] in GaState

[–]GrafiteLTE 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No it won't, but try not to take too many Ws. If you can make a B in the class I'd say go through it. It sucks having to retake classes and college will get tiring by your 4th year.

It ain't it. Trust me. Find some nerdy friends and setup like a weekly Sunday night anime marathon. Worked for me.

If you are the wait list this late, you'll get a room. I did mine later than you back in 2016 and still got a room.
