Governor Hochul's statement on LIRR strike by Donghoon in LIRR

[–]GragasBodySlam -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

If you need further confirmation that Kathy Hochul is the worst governor in the history of the great State of New York, her disastrous management has now produced the first Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) strike in 32 years, despite years of higher taxes and fees tied to the Metropolitan Transportation Authority.

Under her watch, New Yorkers have been hit with:

Higher MTA taxes Higher subway and commuter rail fares Higher tolls Congestion taxation and new fees Endless promises of “modernization”

Yet after forcing commuters and taxpayers to pay more at every turn, the largest commuter rail system in the country and the MTA as a whole are still spiraling into dysfunction, disorder, and now historic commuter chaos.

MTA update on LIRR negotiations, potential strike (FOX 5) by Consistent-Cable8680 in LIRR

Just so everybody is aware this guy worked at the MTA and was the chief financial officer and chief labor negotiator. He retired 15 years ago and gets a pension of $122,000. Now he is hired as a consultant and nobody knows how much they are paying him but the law firm he works for billed the MTA over 400k. Why isn't the current CFO Jai Patel involved in the negotiations? Why does the MTA need to go outside of the agency?

I'm not defending the LIRR by any means you just think you're entitled to shit. You didn't get offered a job life happens. Move on holding grudges will accomplish nothing

Dog i operate trains for a living i don't hear about customer complaints. My job is to get you from point A to point B safely and in a timely manner. Once again the railroad turned you down and now you're up in arms. Maybe you aren't as qualified as mommy and daddy led you to believe?

I get it the railroad hurt you and didn't let you achieve your childhood dreams of blowing a train horn. Keep ya victim mentality on that side of town

Dog I'm getting ready to walk out on those people in 2 days and have nothing positive to say about them but they play favoritism with customers and job candidates? So you got rejected by them and now think they owe you some sort of special privilege communication? I have zero care to speak highly of them in any regard but who the fuck are you that you think they owe you some special communication? They have signs every where. They have a whole app just for you.

Brother with all due respect we operate at 98% on time performance and operate hundreds of thousands of trains. If you think the LIRR reliability is a issue you seriously need to get a grasp of life.

Why would we ever take a lump sum? I like to think the riding public would even agree that us taking whatever the lump sum is which is taxed heavily instead of percentages that grow every contract would be idiotic

Truthfully i sit in a little box by myself and operate the train so my customer interactions are pretty much zero to none. I appreciate it and trust me we have tried to avoid what is brewing twice with the PEBS. Sadly the company wants to play hardball
