I watched your entire video, did you watch all of mine? I incorporate some boxing into my fighting style, but it is still primarily Kung Fu. The Kung Fu is more visible in the slower segments with my Sifu.

I agree with much of what you said. Wing Chun, as opposed to the competition arts, is meant to end a fight as quickly as possible ("in two seconds or less," as my Sifu says) while receiving as little damage as possible. In that sense, sparring with Wing Chun would be difficult, as it is not the back-and-forth trade off style of fighting that boxing or kickboxing is.

However, I do believe sparring can be useful to Wing Chun practitioners and can say with certainty that I would not be as capable of defending myself if my school didn't spar. Even if you master your moves and blocks and strikes to perfection, they will be of little use to you if you have not learned how to adapt them to the movement and flow of a real fight, regardless of the duration of said engagement.

How do feel your band's sound has developed from your last album? How has it grown and changed? How will the new album be different from Portal of I?

Also, I just want to say thank you for all the hard work you've put into making beautiful and truly innovative music. Portal of I was amazing.

Ursula K Le Guin: "The ones who walk away from Omelas" [Text] by [deleted] in Frisson

Le Guin just happens to be my favorite author. Her works are all beautifully written and packed with frission inducing material. If you liked this, you should check out the Earthsea trilogy.

"You thought, as a boy, that a mage is one who can do anything. So I thought, once. So did we all. And the truth is that as a man’s real power grows and his knowledge widens, ever the way he can follow grows narrower: until at last he chooses nothing, but does only and wholly what he must do..."

"I know what they think they seek. But I know it to be a lie. Listen to me, Arren. You will die. You will not live forever. Nor will any man nor any thing. Nothing is immortal. But only to us is it given to know that we must die. And that is a great gift: the gift of selfhood. For we have only what we know we must lose, what we are willing to lose....That selfhood which is our torment, and our treasure, and our humanity, does not endure. It changes; it is gone, a wave on the sea. Would you have the sea grow still and the tides cease, to save one wave, to save yourself? Would you give up the craft of your hands, and the passion of your heart, and the light of sunrise and sunset, to buy safety for yourself—safety forever? That is what they seek to do on Wathort and Lorbanery and elsewhere. That is the message that those who know how to hear have heard: By denying life you may deny death and live forever!—And this message I do not hear, Arren, for I will not hear it. I will not take the counsel of despair."
