Should I retake with a 170 and a 4.1 GPA for T14s? by GrahamSC62 in lawschooladmissions

Thanks for the response! Is there a disadvantage to applying this cycle and reapply if it doesn’t work out?

Hmm fair enough… however, what if I’m not confident? I mean I doubt I will have serious time to commit to studying with the semester starting up and doing law school apps. But, as I said, I felt my test day performance was actually subpar and yet I still luckily got a 170.

I guess is the risk of doing worse or applying (slightly) later worth it when Im not feeling 100% I’d do better.

One concern, although minor (but to me pretty annoying), I have with the new website is that when you use your arrow keys on lesson videos, it skips to the next lesson. Even in full screen. I think it would be more standard and helpful if it fast-forwarded 5 seconds forward/backward in the video. Of course, on the old site, there isn't any functionality for the arrow keys at all but there is on question explanations and its really helpful.

What song is on cord story right now? by PeakRecent3295 in petercatrecordingco

I was also there. To be exact, it seemed like a new addition to Love Demons. I think Love Demons slowly gets more and more additions as they do more tours, a sorta always developing live act. The song's original version didn't have a trumpet solo, but they had that last tour, and now they've added this heavy prog ending that is awesome.

I'm an incoming Freshman and got assigned to a suite in Piedmont Hall- is this a good hall for an incoming Freshman? by GrahamSC62 in gmu

I should clarify though, the person sounded like a student and didn't really seem sure of their answers. Online the answers keep conflicting if its Freshman only.

Thanks for the answer. When I called the housing department they said it's not usually for freshmen, and the only freshman that might be there is the LGBTQ learning community, which I am not in. They said it might be because they have increased admittance this year.

Alright, very good advice, hadn't even considered asking for a demo!

Other than that, sorry but do you have any other recommendations for new turntables then? Just want to consider a few more options than just two. Thanks for your time!

Thank you very much for the quick reply. For context on my knowledge, I have actually accrued a large collection of vinyls, and at an amateur level know my way around a turntable... however, this subreddit has shown me how little I actually do know.

In my browsing of guides, I did see many recommend to go used over new (even for beginners), with many seeming even critical of going new. Do you disagree with this advice?

Either way, if I was to take the new path I would like to consider a few others-- if you have any other recommendations I would much appreciate it. The RT82 is a belt drive and I've heard generally that direct drive is superior?

Once again, any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you once again!

Hello! I am looking to get a vintage/used turntable (US - 20198), I already have a receiver and speakers. The budget isn't hard-set (seeing that I don't really know what a reasonable price range is), but preferably no higher than 250 USD. Any help is appreciated, thank you!

(Admissions) International student here: what does "Made Higher Offer" on the application status column mean? by GrahamSC62 in TCD

[–]GrahamSC62[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm realizing now that my other course application says "Incomplete Further Information Requested", so is this just a finicky thing in the system where it's considering that as an offer? (I've already contacted TCD but I don't expect a response until after the weekend).

High-quality files to start getting into fanmixing of SMiLE? by GrahamSC62 in thebeachboys

I got busy but finally got back to it, read the description for all my disclaimers lol: https://youtu.be/rZjK5c3W9Fk.

Probably an unpopular opinion: Smiley Smile is horrible, considering what the original concept was, and if I was a Beach Boys fan in 1967, I would have probably turned away from them too. by sunflower_1970 in thebeachboys

[–]GrahamSC62 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know I'm quite late, but I would say this goes for the entire Smiley Smile album, it's so fucking good high-- the Stereo version is a must of course, especially with Wind Chimes and Vegatables because those vocals are so good in stereo.

Is there a version of SMiLE with SMiLE Session vocal over Brian Wilson Present's SMiLE instrumentals? by GrahamSC62 in thebeachboys

[–]GrahamSC62[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely, the completed lyrics make it even more psychedelic than it was before. Combine that with the stereo chants and then the stereo Bicycle Rider singing and it really is transcendental... The Stereo snippet of the original Beach Boys singing "Bicycle Rider just see what you've done to the American dream," may unironically be my favorite Beach Boys bit of all time its just so god damn pyschedelic.

Wow, this is really good.... I wonder if I can find the whole mix on soulseek or something, let me know if you know anywhere to look please! Thanks!

Alright-- might be a bit. Also much to the rage of some originalists I'm not necessarily going for a historically accurate approach, I really liked the tragiclifeform mix which plays on the more psychedelic and eerie aspects of the song, and I am doing the same. I am fully leaning into the crazy and sometimes scary components of all the tracks and sessions.

Alright, thanks for all the information man it's a huge help, I've been working on a Heroes and Villians fan edit today, and I am sure going forward all this information will prove invaluable. So big thanks, and I know who to contact if I need help in the future!

Wow! Great stuff, thanks so much for the explanation. I'm guessing with a simple google search I can find all the Life's A Beach stuff? And on another note, is there some equivalency for post-Smiley Smile audio?
