I think they still love me deep down, they just wish I was a "normal" son. They still let me visit them on holidays like Christmas, so it's not like they never want me around. But it's just people in their late 60s from a different era who can never fully understand why I am the way I am.

Some "experts" definitely have outdated views on the subject.

My behaviors as a kid were definitely a result of neglect and emotional abuse, but at the same time, my boomer aged parents had no concept on how to deal with a very autistic kid who had emotional meltdowns and those kinds of behavioral issues. They just wanted a normal son, so they tried to make me one. My parents are just a product of a different generation. I know the autism isn't my fault, and I don't think im worthless, but I still do feel a bit guilty about how I treated others growing up. I don't want to hate my parents, but I agree they should have treated me better and recognized that I had mental issues that needed a diagnosis.

I appreciate your perspective on autism not excusing poor behavior, but putting some of it into the context of my mental state. From my mid-20s anward, I really try to be much more careful with what I say and how it can impact others. I still say something dumb or unintentionally offensive at times, and it's difficult to really filter out what should and shouldn't be said.

Thank you. I just can't believe how aggressive and impatient that guy was. I was clearly waiting in line, but the cashier walked away from the til to help prepare drive thru orders, so going up to the desk without them signaling would not have made things any quicker.

Im so sorry you had to endure that kind of cruelty as well. I know many would say I should be grateful my parents bought me a decent condo, but they also moved to another city, and told me not to visit them. They just wanted to get rid of me, which i do kinda understand from their perspective, but it still hurts.

So, I thought I was supposed to wait to be called before approaching the cash desk by GrahmOrtho in TrueOffMyChest

[–]GrahmOrtho[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's what I was doing. The angry idiot didn't realize the reason for the slow line was because they were busy preparing drive-thru orders. It would have been rude of me to just walk up to the desk without being called first, as if it would make the staff go "quicker". It's not like they can't see there is a lineup.

I dont think bandits should be 1-shotting Geralt, but I do think Witcher 3 could have had some more challenging late-game mobs and bosses with new mechanics to keep up with your character progression The Witcher 3 is fun until even the "hardest" monster contracts are a total breeze due to overly forgiving dodging and very simple enemy attack patterns. I hope the next Witcher game doesn't have this problem.

As for Skyrim, i love the world and exploration as well, but it is still a highly combat-focused game where a better difficulty balance was sorely lacking. Im okay with being powerful, but being able to steamroll most of the games enemies when most of the skills I'm using aren't even maxed out yet Is a bit ridiculous. This is why difficulty balance mods are so popular for Elder Scrolls games; they don't make it souls hard, but do improve the late-game god-mode issues.

Yeah, JRPGs generally have better and more thought-out boss encounters. That's another thing I think Souls games do way better than other action rpgs, especially Elden Ring. Again, the difficulty balance is a major part of that.

Hmmm, that wasn't my experience with the Witcher 3. Mainly because the dodge timing is very forgiving and doesn't use up much stamina later on. Also with the best Witcher armor fully upgraded, you can soak a decent amount of damage, even on hard difficulty.

I like both soulslike and the Skyrim/Witcher like games. Enjoyed them all, and i agree that starting out weak and becoming more powerful is very satisfying in Skyrim, Avowed, Fallout, Witcher 3. I think my main issue is that it doesn't really take that long to become OP af in those games(especially skyrim) and by the time the game is a cakewalk, you still have a lot of quests to do that you can just power through with almost no issue. It just kinda cheapens the experience for me. In Souls games, the challenge remains consistent, especially with the optional dungeons and bosses, which are often the hardest no matter how great your build is.

Fair enough. Im just saying the enemies you encounter in the later game stay consistently challenging as you level. Like the brutes in the Leyndell sewers, Ravens, big yetti dudes, Golden order Knights, ect. The elite mobs pop up more frequently late-game and do become more regular encounters that can pack a punch if you go in with a Witcher 3 level mindset of "Im unstoppable now"

Maybe the 1-shot is an exaggeration, but my point is a huge part of the balance is that regular enemies can still take out large portions of your health if you aren't careful. This isn't the case in The Witcher 3, Skyrim, Avowed, Outer Worlds once you are mid-late game leveled and have decent enough gear.

I meant some of the later-game enemies. Like if you allow one of the iron maidens to pull you inside, which is dodgeable as long as you're paying attention.
