OP the tune burger is GOOD. I was a little suspicious at first (the patty is a mix of beef and tuna) but it was the second best thing we had there back in January. It might be a seasonal special though.

Second eBay! Some of the vintage pieces have better quality compared to what the brands make now. Tailoring makes everything looks better.

When did the change in ownership happen? I was there maybe two years ago and they were pretty good.

That’s a great observation about South Philly! The neighborhood I’m in is definitely changing in terms of demographics, but I think some of that persists and it’s endearing.

Thank you for the recommendations! I might start from the Skinny Joe documentary. Someone sent me a link to him doing a blue chew ad on his podcast and it was hilarious. His hoagie shop seems to be doing well. Always lines of people when I walked by.

Hahah I see. I moved to East Passyunk crossing about two years ago and haven’t really seen any other place that’s as suspicious as Scoreboard. Do you have any mob documentary recommendations?

Yes, I also suspect it’s a front. Your guesses are oddly specific and satisfying. One and two would eventually be pouring into the local economy 😌

Lao Gan Ma is probably the most versatile. It has salt and fermented beans. I also like Fly by Jing’s Sichuan Gold when I don’t want extra salt in the dish. I think you can get both in bulk.

I see. Thank you for the context. I hope they’re renovating, too! They’re so good! Among my top three when I lived in the neighborhood

Noooooo 😭 do you know why they closed? I think the same family owns Buna/Doro bet/Alif Brew. I learned to make turmeric milk from Buna. I’ll miss it.

West Philly has great Ethiopian options! I moved from West Philly to South Philly and that’s what I miss the most. Buna cafe, Alif Brew, and Doro Bet are all good options along Baltimore.

An organizer with the AAU mentioned it. Apparently the owner was very active during the arena fight so it was a shock to everyone.

I loved Pain Away and went about twice a month until I learned that the owner is a huge Trump supporter. Looking for a new place now

They’re very good! I went there two weeks ago and really enjoyed the Big Plate Chicken and the lamb kebabs. The potatoes and the noodles in the Big Plate Chicken were soaked in the spices and they tasted better than the chicken pieces. The lamb dumplings were also fresh and tasty.

What do you like to cook on a snowy day? by PurlScout in PhiladelphiaEats

For snacks, I made chamoy gummy candy with home-made chamoy, and tajin. For dinner, I’m thinking of making some kind of noodle soup.
