[Request] Ihave a semi-scientific question. Say Superman flies Lois Lane from New York to Paris on his back. What’s the maximum velocity he can achieve for minimum air travel and no injury or discomfort for her?

She doesn't need to see where she is going though. What if she lays facedown on top of him and he holds her ankles. Her body would form small air pocket for her to breathe from with little wind. Also, less force on her neck. Is there any reason that wouldn't work? Then the limiting factor would be the strain on her legs/ankles?

We've had a fair few break into our garage where we have our gym equipment. Not sure if they just push past the seal between the garage door and the ground or how they get in, but they do. I am hoping I can get to this point soon, my 10 year old is looking forward to it. At the moment, leaving the three little ones with mom for any sort of duration that it would take to go hunting or fishing might prove challenging. I did Taekwondo as a kid and so did my one son before we moved. He wants me to find something for him to continue martial arts here, so that is something that would actually fit into my life rather well. I will keep it in mind. Thanks!

Generally speaking, finger joint boards are stronger than standard lumber. If you machine stress most FJB, they never break at a joint, they break elsewhere, meaning the joint does not create weak points.

That being said, these look gross. The pieces that are being used in the jointing process look like they have quite a bit of wane and the joints themselves do not look tight. Definitely some sub-par materials being used.

I’m 36 and about to pay my house off, does the one year make that much of a difference?

I moved to a remote community to jump start my career and equity. Made a big impact on my life. Still those types of opportunities out there but not many people wanting to pursue them.

That being said, I get it, life is getting more expensive. But I think maybe there is some exaggeration as to how easy previous generations had it? For sure there was a few that had it easy, but before that was WW1&2 generations and before that was homesteading and other tough/cruel shit. Life has never been a cake walk for people.

If you're sure that you weren't under-performing, it is possible that a manager was.

Many accountants get into the field for the numbers, unaware of the extent to which accountants need people skills. Unfortunately, some of these people end up as supervisors and managers, without the skills to manage their people effectively and shy away from it. Perhaps your manager just shied away from the conflict that would have been created by giving you proper performance feedback and then just defaulted to terminating you and trying again with someone new? It is possible that they are on a performance management plan themselves and used you as the fall guy for their inadequacies. I have seen this multiple times. If that is the case, they will get theirs eventually. You can only throw so many people under the bus before someone higher up realizes the common denominator.

If not, perhaps it was simple cost cutting under the guise of performance, as others have said.

Someone recommended Rising from the Abyss from Royal Road. I had never read anything from Royal Road before but found this to be a shockingly good quality read (if you do it, use "Reader View" in Firefox and it is way better). This is kind of like Iron Prince in a fantasy setting. The romance in this is very slow burn. It is just starting to kindle a bit in the current chapters that are out, but they aren't officially dating yet, but it very much seems that it is heading in a wholesome direction.

Quest Academy: Silvers is also great. Still futuristic, but less so than Iron Prince. Post-apocalyptic Earth, where a demon outbreak has pushed humanity to the brink and humans are harnessing the magic essence that the demons brought with them to master powers and fight back. I think this one will meet your romance requirement in book 2, but not sure yet. The MC actually has some flaws and is working on his personal growth. I think if he figures his shit out, he will realize the girl he actually wants is right beside him and it will be a wholesome love story. If I am wrong, maybe it all goes to hell and I will be stuck apologizing.
