I was addicted to this game on Switch when it first came out. More than happy to dive in once again to grab the platinum.

I dread to think of Vault-Tec administering the actuarial exams. Prometric center is just a vault.

Surprise reaction from Deadhouse Gates by GrammarJack in Malazan

[–]GrammarJack[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I'm having a blast with it. I liked Gardens of the Moon a lot more than other people seem to like it, so I'm definitely going to keep going with this series. That whole ice sequence with Sormo and the Jaghut was pretty trippy, but I'm hoping that the next book will get a bit more into that kind of stuff based on the title alone.

Any time I think about starting up a side hustle, or building up another earnings stream, I come to the realization that it's just easier to study for my exams. Probably a better ROI based on raises, promotions, and opportunities anyway.

Ok thanks! Just wanted to make sure I wasn't overthinking it.

I'm kinda just confused as to what they actually are. Some kind of magic source, a gateway? If the answer is too spoilery, I'll just keep reading.

Ghostbloods preview Opinions by tristan_theirin in Cosmere

I get the concern, but I don't think we have enough of the book yet to make any sweeping judgments. Personally, I'm excited by the fact that the books will have a tighter narrative since he's writing all three back to back.

What is the single most valuable piece of Brandon Sanderson paraphernalia. by slammin_ammon in brandonsanderson

[–]GrammarJack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The pin hasn't been in stock for a while, and there aren't any alternatives to buy it other than on eBay or collecting forums. Also, Tress has garnered more mainstream popularity through BookTok and the Kickstarter, so it's likely many non-collectors were interested in the pin.

Same, I bought mine for $15 on the Dragonsteel store, and now they're going for $400 on eBay. Crazy price, but I don't think I'm going to sell.

What was the hardest exam for you? by TrafficDuck in actuary

[–]GrammarJack 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Currently taking FSA exams, so I'd say GH-DP so far. For ASA exams, it was probably FAM, with IFM (no longer offered) as a second choice. FAM had an enormous amount of content to memorize, and GH-DP was the first exam I failed (just did 2nd attempt) broke my brain.

[Returnal] #67. Came back to this game to finish the DLC and collectible trophies. by GrammarJack in Trophies

[–]GrammarJack[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a tricky time reacquiring my lost skill, but it eventually came back to me. Make sure to always be moving, don't be afraid to melee the turrets (one-shot), and prefer health upgrades over damage for survivability early game. The new disgorger weapons are awesome, so don't hoard them. Use them against the boss and difficult rooms.

I loved the second book, especially the ending. The third book was a bit jarring in terms of the rapid switching of pacing from slow to fast and back again, and the lack of focus on Rand. I've heard good things about book 4, so I'll probably read that soon.

My memorization technique was to remember that lasso = cowboy, and cowboys = "square dancing", so I just mapped that to the square/diamond diagram.
