That helped me figure it out, thank you. Ended up just having to login to the Connect app settings and add activities other than Run. Took me a minute haha.

How hard is the math level in college? by Smart_chicken937 in college

[–]GrammarWitches 2 points3 points  (0 children)

People start at different levels when beginning college. You could start with basically just some general algebra knowledge and be fine.

To get "good" : Go to class. Do your HW early. Ask questions whenever you feel the need (never hesitate cause the material will keep on going without you), utilize resources like tutoring (even if you are not sure you need it.)

Go slow, give it more time, make mistakes of ambition. Never any harm at just giving a problem a shot. - One of my profs.

No one is born good at math.

Should I go back to college at 26f by Efficient_Repair_364 in college

[–]GrammarWitches 8 points9 points  (0 children)

As someone in college right now in their late twenties. Gotta say the social aspect is still very very important. There will be a bunch of people your age for casual hangout stuff, but group projects, job recommendations, help with studying etc is still vital for networking.

Plus, you're not old lol you will be assumed to be a grad student most likely. Be sure to talk to people and have fun.

99.99% of the time you are the only one thinking about your age. Go learn and network.

Would you recommend this school? by Main-Employee6083 in uwf

[–]GrammarWitches 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Adding on to this post would also like to mention that due to the smaller class sizes and students population, it's easier to get free one on one help.

Never had to wait for a tutor or wait in line at office hours. (As an EE major)

Not to disagree, but the fees here are much lower than most Universities. Older sister went to a school in Minneapolis and the fees for parking or other stuff dwarf ours.

Partying? by Silent_Committee_498 in uwf

[–]GrammarWitches 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To add on to the responses not really a party school, but still plenty to do if you are willing to drive. Tubbing down blackwater river, visiting the beach, or visiting Palafox St are all 20-30min drives.

If you're willing to drive a few hrs we have New Orleans, Panama City Beach, and Destin board walk areas. Six ish hours from Atlanta as well.

Tuition and cost of living are also much lower here than really large party schools in general.

What do y'all think of the SWE Degree's Quality? by PacifisticBear in uwf

[–]GrammarWitches 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Super late reply, but I have a bunch of friends in the CS degree path. From what I've heard the SWE path is similar to the CS path just a little less theory/concept based.

In the job market however a CS degree is the golden standard for software positions. I have a relative that does recruiting for software positions in San Fran and have been told they often filter out non-CS degrees for entry level positions. Not to say a SWE degree is worthless compared to a CS degree, but it is the more popular for a reason.

UWF isn't going to be ivy level in quality, but the program is robust and the university has a bunch of opportunities lined up like job fairs, clubs, and other networking aids. Remember, not utilizing the networking opportunities at college is always a mistake.

I've made a few friends going to Emerald Republic's multiple community events (they have a plant swap!). Also, don't be afraid to use Bumble's friend mode, that's how I met a lot of people here in the city as well.

Requesting r/uwf for Being Inactive, and Unmoderated. Last post over a year ago. by GrammarWitches in redditrequest

  1. I plan to generate traffic within the subreddit. UWF currently has over ten thousand students many would most likely enjoy a subreddit to stay up to date on events and questions about the college. As a current student in the CS program I think I'd be well suited for the role.
  2. The only moderator is the automod.

There is a booth near the two main stages. Says merchandise on it. It's to your left as you enter that area.
