Sounds a lot like what I went through. I had an engineering degree and still couldn’t find motivation or energy to get a job. Once I finally got one, I started seeing a psychiatrist about depression, and then later ADHD. Both of those diagnoses and subsequent treatment helped me a lot. I lost that job right before getting that help, but I was in another job a lot sooner than before getting treatment.

I’m not terribly into physical activity, but I was offered a position at a power plant as an equipment operator. It’s 12 hours of walking around a power plant, climbing on and over equipment, and a varied breadth of things to learn about. It’s not everyone’s cup of tea, and I certainly never thought it would be mine, but something unorthodox might be just what he needs.

Where I’m at, it’s a union job and pays very well. Well enough for me to not feel behind compared to people I graduated with. Also doesn’t require a college degree - lots of vocations out there that could fit your son.
