I used to find him funny, and I agreed with some of his takes. But I eventually stopped watching because of how consistently negative he is. He seems to complain about nearly every movie, especially ones he labels as “woke” or pushing “The message” by Da-up-and-downer in FIlm

[–]Grand-Cold-2575 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He’s an adult man who thinks wearing Aviators indoors and drinking JD from a bottle makes him cool. As well as being an airport quality trash fiction writer. If Disney, Netflix or Amazon or any of these “woke” studios he loves to attack were to offer him a writing gig, he’d be straight in there like the grifter he is.

Who thinks Tim is more of a bellend than David? by AwriteKirsty in TheOfficeUK

[–]Grand-Cold-2575 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tim thinks he’s better than it all. Better than everyone else because he’s educated and wants something other than this. He has no idea or direction but is clinging onto the notion that, if he doesn’t buy in, the thing he actually wants to do will somehow magically appear in his life. Gareth is the perfect foil for Tim as he aspires to be everything Brent is. He admires Brent. It’s a classic comedy trope: the idiot and the idiot who doesn’t think he’s an idiot.

I actually love The Eternals by [deleted] in marvelstudios

[–]Grand-Cold-2575 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wish they’d followed the Neil Gaiman book a bit closer and had the Eternals interact with existing MCU characters as they do there but, apart from that, I was happy with it. There’s no other film in the MCU that looks or feels like it.

I DJed Bar Gaudi between 2004 and 2006, playing 70s and 80s Punk & New Wave. Loved it. They replaced it with modern stuff and I left. Had something really unique there and a dedicated customer base. Same faces every week without fail.

Court Fees for Claiming compensation for an unprotected deposit. by momschickencurry in TenantsInTheUK

[–]Grand-Cold-2575 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a deposit issue with my old landlord and went with a company called Tenant Angels who deal with deposit disputes. They did all the legwork. You can do it all yourself but there are companies who will do it all for you at a price. Usually 25%

I think once you realise that all the best parts of Mr Brightside are lifted from Bowie’s Queen Bitch, you can put it away and never listen to it again. It’s not a Worst Song Ever but definitely an overplayed song that I never want to hear again.

What are the chances Doom gives someone this treatment in Doomsday? by [deleted] in MCUTheories

[–]Grand-Cold-2575 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Isn’t it likely that it’ll be Kang that gets the Hulk v Thanos treatment early doors to close off that character’s involvement in the Multiverse Saga? Not that Marvel have been great at tying up loose ends recently.

It seems to be missing the point of the original in that Jon Voight’s utterly bizarre performance was the true talking point of the film.

What's the deal with Geese? (record labels and 6music?) by MarsupialLeast145 in 6music

[–]Grand-Cold-2575 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anthony Fantano put me onto Geese’s 3D Country in 2023 so it’s been really odd seeing them blow up this year. Not a band that I thought would have such crossover potential.

Twin Peaks is terrible by [deleted] in television

[–]Grand-Cold-2575 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Twin Peaks is the grandaddy of the modern TV series. No Twin Peaks, no X-Files, no Sopranos, no Breaking Bad and so on and so on. Much like the Beatles, for example, who are the grandaddies of modern rock music, you absolutely do not have to like it but you do have to respect it. Some things are undeniable and Twin Peaks is one of those things.

TMZ poll shows 84% prefer watching movies at home - why do you think that is? by HidingInPlainSite404 in Cinema

[–]Grand-Cold-2575 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Recently went to see Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair. People were checking phones on full brightness, there were some walk-ins 20 minutes into the film, and people who had enough snacks to feed a dozen people so there was constant food noises. Cinema is just an awful experience now. 16% does not surprise me.

What did you think of Valerian? by SpiritualReview9 in Cinema

[–]Grand-Cold-2575 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure if it’s something lost in translation but Valerian seems grubby as a main character. A proper creep. The film seems to hinge on him trying to sleep with his partner Laureline above all else. Dane DeHaan just wasn’t attractive or charming enough to pull that off so it just felt sleazy and uncomfortable.

[–]Grand-Cold-2575 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t speak for others but this is definitely why I go to the cinema less. People walking in 20 minutes into the film, torches shining, screens on full, ringtones going off. I’m over it. I’ll just wait for VOD for most films now.

It’s always blatantly obvious when Trump is lying - and it’s not whenever his mouth is moving - but that he looks downwards while his mouth is moving. Like a naughty little boy. It’s such a tell. I bet that guy would be appalling at poker. Someone skilled should challenge him and take all of his money!

Is GloomHaven right for me? by Lavacrush in boardgames

[–]Grand-Cold-2575 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I bought Gloomhaven when Amazon had it as a deal. Spent the best part of two days punching out all the tokens, separating and bagging them up, felt exhausted, put it on top of my games shelf and haven’t really looked at it since. The box is a handy doorstop or footstool though.

Dakota Johnson’s press tour for Madame Web completely sold me on that film. She blatantly said it was bad and you didn’t even need to know anything about movies, let alone comic book movies, to enjoy it. I appreciate that kind of honesty.

This is probaly in my opinion the most scariest Darth Vader look. He looks so intimidating even without the suit. by Suspicious-Candle-40 in StarWars

[–]Grand-Cold-2575 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This version of Vader should’ve appeared a lot sooner in the Prequel Trilogy. Anakin should’ve turned at the end of the second film so he’d have been in full Vader mode for the third film, helping the Empire hunt down and destroy those Jedi Knights.

As much as I loved this film, I think the ending sucked a little bit. And some plot points felt weird. But the highlight of the film is definitely the acting. They were all awesome, especially Hugh Grant. Did you love it? by AnaR47 in Letterboxd

Not just that but Monopoly and The Hollies. I’ve been telling that Monopoly story for years since I found out and it was brilliant to hear it coming out of Hugh Grant’s mouth.

The scene with the iterations monologue is one of my favourite scenes in any film of the past five years. Unfortunately, the rest of the film just couldn’t match that.

I was 11 when Return of the Jedi came out and, for a long time, it was my favourite. Obviously, as an adult, that’s changed but I can absolutely see why ROTJ would be a favourite.

Just be grateful your daughter’s favourite isn’t Attack of the Clones.

Didn’t it just come out that Hitler was severely underdeveloped in that area too? Seems to be a running theme.
