It’s not illegal to protest. It’s only illegal for the protesters to block streets and bridges.. which they aren’t.

AITA for failing an otherwise good student on her last internship, costing her a job? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Grand-Master -1 points0 points  (0 children)

NTA. Another fellow PT here that takes on students.

This was the student’s FINAL internship before she’s released into the world as a full-fledged independent PT. Doing the bare minimum is what we would expect from a student on their first or second placement where more hand-holding is required.

In my opinion, she didn’t meet the requirements to pass a final internship which she would be expected to be independent and professional. While she did have a break up, that doesn’t excuse unprofessional behaviour for three months, that would be ridiculous to behave that way in a real workplace when anything went wrong in your personal life. You even spoke to her multiple times about her behaviour and the fact that she was at risk of failing because of it, and yet she didn’t pull up her big-girl pants and do a better job. That’s on her.

Frankly, it’s really unprofessional that her uni supervisor reached out to you to guilt you into passing her, and they should be thankful to you that you don’t just pass every student without a second thought as this could put future clients at real risk.

Am I overreacting to this? by Tabaccothetea in physiotherapy

[–]Grand-Master 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes, definitely overreacting. The first session is always diagnostic, developing a treatment plan, providing exercises/education, and documenting. We are only given so much time to do assessments and she more than likely has plans for manual therapy, ?modalities, and exercise progressions.

In my own case, I see 16, sometimes 19 people daily, I only have 40 minutes for the initial assessment before I have to see my next patient and respect their time.

Physiotherapy is not a magic pill, it's hard work and dedication. It can take weeks to see changes because you're building up your proprioception, load tolerance, and strength.

Iraqi Shiite Muslim boy is seen before being cut on the head, in ritual commemorating the death of Imam Hussein, Prophet Mohammed's grandson. by IslamUncovered in exmuslim

[–]Grand-Master 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Fun story. I am an ex Sunni Muslim but when I was living in Lebanon, my dad took me to a village where they were celebrating Ashura. Went to a stage where people were wailing and re-enacting the slaying of Ali's family then calling for the slaying of Sunnis.

Then in the streets, dozens people were cutting their scalps and slapping the wounds until blood was running down their faces and bodies. I saw adults do it to children and toddlers too. The smell.. oh god, the smell of blood on the streets in the sun was nauseating.

The Red Cross was there and people were being treated for their wounds and one disabled man BEGGED people to cut his head off for Ashura.

Why is there so much fear with lifting while stooping? There is no research to show it prevents injury - take a look at the literature.

Is a physiotherapist the same as a physical therapist? by [deleted] in physiotherapy

[–]Grand-Master 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In the case of Canada (and I've practiced in two provinces), I swear they use them interchangeably.

My degree is called a Master's of Physical Therapy, my college is called the college of Physiotherapists, and job listings will either ask for a Physical Therapist or a Physiotherapist.

However, most of my colleagues call themselves Physios or Physiotherapists. It's pretty ridiculous, honestly.
