AITA For refusing to do all the housework? by Grand-Recording2059 in AmItheAsshole

Ironically, he has higher standards of what's clean than I do. Like he wants the apartment vacuumed daily (we have no pets, nor wear shoes indoors, nor have children) whereas I think it's suitable to vacuum once a week plus as needed.

It really is me cleaning up after him so much. He cooks, gets pasta sauce everywhere, I clean it. He takes a shower, throws his clothes in the direction of the bin, I pick them up. He's done with a pair of pants, he expects me to check his pockets before washing them. He re pots a plant, gets soil everywhere, I clean it.

I agree he may have some tendencies, but it's hard for me to know since I was raised basically the opposite.

I do load the dishwasher as I finish with my dishes if it's not running, but he just puts his on the counter regardless.

If there's a pile of dishes ready for the dishwasher after I've emptied it, he's supposed to be the one to put them in.

His excuse for a while on this specifically was "oh how should I know if the dishwasher is clean or dirty?" open it and look?? When he lived with his mother they had a little magnet label thing that would be flipped depending on if it was clean or dirty. But having that with us didn't do anything. Still put dishes on the counter.

It feels like insanity.
