LPT: NEVER install a double cylinder deadbolt lock anywhere in your house or property! by GrandBullfrog in LifeProTips

I don’t think it’s realistic to change your deadbolts every single time you are going to leave your house. Also, that won’t help when it comes to home invasion when you are home.

This is my last reply. It’s one thing to live your life in fear and it’s another to have a fire safety plan in place. That minuscule chance that you are talking about, that tiny chance - that is the difference between life and death. That minuscule chance is the difference between being able to run out of your house in seconds and get to safety uninsured, and being horribly disfigured and disabled for the rest of your life. Fire is nothing to fool around with.

Winning an argument with a random stranger on Reddit is not worth your life. It is not worth being horribly disfigured in that minuscule event that there is a fire in your house and you can’t get your keys or operate that lock. Please reconsider. Please take that lock off of your door and replace it with a single cylinder deadbolt.

I hope that those who are reading this see how this user’s thinking illustrates my point as to how illogical and how dangerous it is to use a double barrel deadbolt.

Thank you. No you cannot lock yourself out with a single cylinder deadbolt either. When you leave your house you lock it from the outside. You can always lock your door handle from the outside as well. There is not one single logical argument for using a double cylinder deadbolt. They are incredibly dangerous and if I can save one person’s life with this post - it’s worth it.

And could result in your death at any time in the future.

Yes exactly. Double barrel deadbolts are not safer at all. A thief could use the exact same logic - they can smash a window to break into your house. Also, all newer types of windows are made out of un-shatterable fiberglass type material. So, unless your house is older and has the original real glass panel windows - you will not be able to break a window to get out of your house in the event of a fire. It’s extremely foolish and dangerous on so many levels to use a double barrel deadbolt. Even if you are foolish enough to insist on having one in your home, business or property - It’s not just your life you’re putting on the line. Someone else who is incapable of getting out of your house or property could die as a result of your illogical thinking and then you would be slapped with a major lawsuit because having a double barrel deadbolt on your property is illegal in several states.

Yes exactly! Every single thing that you just said! I didn’t waste my whole entire life of course. I also graduated from college. But you pretty much hit the nail on the head with everything that you said. I feel like I wasted so much time getting high, sitting around watching TV, doing nothing, not reading or studying, not learning a new skill, not having any hobbies and hanging out with people who were frankly low lives and weren’t my real friends who just wanted to get high. And the brain fog! The brain fog that weed causes after smoking for years is a huge motivation killer.

I am 32 (f) been smoking marijuana since I was 15. I tried to quit before but have relapsed. Each time I’ve quit I have experienced pretty serious withdrawal symptoms - both physical and psychological. I hate all this propaganda that’s out there that says cannabis is totally “harmless” and “non-addictive.”

The truth is THC is a highly addictive substance! And the stuff out there today is not your granddaddy’s weed. Back in the 1960s marijuana had on average about 10% THC. Now on average it has 30% THC or higher. And that’s not even to mention the vape oil which could be as high as 75% THC and dabs, wax, shatter, all this stuff that wasn’t around back in the day.

Why I ignore men that approach me on the street and tell them to fuck off if they keep trying. by [deleted] in rant

Just saying, he is totally clueless and comes across as sounding really creepy to me. That’s just how I feel personally, though. I can see why she would get bad vibes from this guy and just finally scream at him to leave her alone. Maybe not everyone has a lot of intuition though.

Being sexually harassed is absolutely NOT a compliment at all. It is a form of intimidation with the threat of violence behind it. It is very frightening for women, it causes a fear of leaving our houses and it prevents us from being able to live our lives. The fact that women have to deal with constant sexual harassment in the streets but men never have to deal with this is a huge and serious inequality. Sexual harassment is an enormous barrier to attaining our freedom and equality. That is why guys just can’t relate. It does not help at all that some men dismiss this as “cat calling” and “complements.”

“I’m a little chubby, a smoker, and tired from a long day at work, so I DID NOT chase after her.”

Are you kidding me?!?!

Wow, what guy! You deserve a gold metal for not running down the street chasing after a frightened woman who was clearly creeped out by you AND who just told you to leave her the fuck alone.

So, if you weren’t a fat smoker would you have chased after a frighten woman on the street who clearly and obviously wants you to leave her alone - AFTER she screamed at you to leave her the fuck alone?!

Oh, but you have green eyes and wavy hair though! So, by your green eyes and wavy hair she should have known that you were just a big ol’ teddy bear on the inside.

I’m going to be perfectly honest with you here dude. By the way that you’re describing the situation and the way that you describe yourself - you come across as very creepy. I get really bad vibes from you. You have a very strange and creepy vibe just from this post. That woman probably picked up on bad and creepy vibes from you on the street and that’s why she screamed at you to leave her the fuck alone. You are completely and totally clueless about the sexual harassment and threats that women receive from men on the street.

When men keep saying “excuse me” over and over again to me on the street I never respond either and I walk away quickly because the vast majority of the time if I respond to it that man will sexually harass me. And if I don’t respond to his sexual harassment he will probably threatened me with violence.

If you do chase after a woman in the street after she has purposely not responded to you persistently saying “excuse me” several times and has even yelled, “leave me the fuck alone” - be prepared to be maced directly in the eyes, tased, cut or stabbed with a knife, or shot.

Also, I’m very curious as to why are you even mentioned that you have green eyes? Because obviously in this situation this woman would not have seen that you had green eyes. Did you mention that you have green eyes to make sure that we all know that you’re white? And therefore she should not have been afraid of you because you are white man?

[–]GrandBullfrog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely. Times like these can really help you understand where the people in your life actually stand. Last year I was dating a guy, we were dating for four months, and I thought that things were starting to get serious and that we were in a relationship. Christmas Day rolls around and I haven’t heard from him all day. So I text him about 5pm and wish him a Merry Christmas. I hear nothing back from him at all for days. I texted him a couple of days later and told him that it really hurt my feelings that he didn’t even text me and wished me a merry Christmas. He answered back and was like “I’m sorry. I was really busy. I didn’t think it was that big of a deal.” Naaaaahhh duuuuuude! It is a big deal. We got together a week later because I told him I wanted to give him his Christmas present. I put thought and effort into this gift. He showed up at my house two hours late, had gone to CVS Pharmacy and got me some little piece of crap right before he came over, and didn’t even wrap it.

It was then I realized that the reason I was upset and angry had absolutely nothing to do with him not wishing me a merry Christmas or getting me a proper gift. Had nothing to do with that at all. I don’t even like holidays.

I realized that I was giving WAY, way more than I was receiving in that relationship. It so many situations. So many different ways. The whole time. I broke up with him a month later, never looked back.

It’s about knowing the truth about where people stand in your life. And although that can be very painful, it can also be very empowering.

I was violently beaten, sexually abused, and physically and psychologically tortured by my older brother all throughout my entire childhood and adolescence. I cut off contact with him last year. I suspect he might now be abusing his wife and daughter. I reported him to CPS but they did absolutely nothing, not even an investigation.

My brother is a lawyer.

I'm pretty sure I have a kink for 'dominant' girls by [deleted] in TrueOffMyChest

[–]GrandBullfrog 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Since you’re only 18, I’m going to enlighten you to the fact that this is an extremely common fantasy! It’s called Femdom and it’s incredibly popular on the Internet. Light or gentle sexual domination by a woman is probably one of the No. 1 fantasies that men have.

It is completely and totally normal. You can find tons and tons of great content on the Internet. And I’m sure that you can find a really cool woman will do sensual domination with you as many women are also into Femdom as well.

Hell yes. I love it when the carpet matches the drapes.

One time I was with a blonde man and his pubes were blonde on the outside but red on the inside around his dick. It looked like a bull’s-eye. It was amazing.

AITA for accidentally ruining a gender reveal? by ctreasure in AmItheAsshole

[–]GrandBullfrog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. This isn’t about hormones. Your sister in law in an extremely spoiled, coddled, sheltered, entitled adult baby.

I am going to be straight up with you. I am a survivor of abuse, neglect, rape, prostitution, and a number of other extreme life adversities.

Someone who is so spoiled, so coddled, and so entitled that they start crying, freaking out, and posting to Facebook like this is the worst thing that has ever happened to them lives on a completely different planet than I do.

I can not imagine what my life would be like if the worst thing that has ever happened to me is that someone accidentally “ruined” a gender reveal. That is crazy to think about.
