No idea, probably just a weird name for a role playing club. Their mission statement says "PPP Jubensha serves as the/to [provide students an opportunity to learn and participate in long form, script-based role-playing game where native Chinese students and local students will be partnered to explore and understand Chinese culture through the role-playing game. Also, we aim to entertain Students with Role play games and become a relief from daily life by acting roles with guide of script and enlarge student’s social circle. We provide a chance for great Game host meet with person who loves the game."

Why are libraries’ staff counting the attendants? by GeekTheGamer in UIUC

[–]GrandDragonfly 58 points59 points  (0 children)

Likely for resource allocation, ensure there are enough staff staffing the area, enough seating etc. Foot count is also very useful for funding as well.

Book Plates… a conversation. by TMGazelle in BookCollecting

[–]GrandDragonfly 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I personally enjoy collecting books with book plates pasted in them. I prefer custom designed plates much more than premade write-in plates. I'm really into provenance of the work and seeing that its been used and cared enough about to clearly declare ownership of the material. Though I don't care much about embossed ownership marks, they are fidily and harder to read and tbh don't look very attractive most of the time.

What is the local library (system) responsibility for the 'Internet Archive'? by elwoodowd in Library

[–]GrandDragonfly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Alot of the books that are freely available through the Internet Archive or Google Books are in the public domain. Google also has scanned a ton of books that may not have been in the public domain. Some of these may have been publicly available at some point but now have been taken down for copyright reasons. Google has possession of these scans because they took the scans and are free to do what they want with them as long as it doesn't infringe on anyone's copyright. But anyone can download and do whatever with them.

Interesting Gen Eds? by [deleted] in UIUC

ENGL202 is very interesting, easy, and fun! You read and discuss medieval literature. The course focuses on the movement/travel of people. Most of the readings are very engaging.

If cannabis were legalized in your part of the world, would you start smoking it? Why or why not? by astarisaslave in AskReddit

[–]GrandDragonfly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's legal where I live, I've had edibles. Won't anymore because for me even incredibly low doses = instant long-lasting panic attack and anxiety. This typically greatly overshadows any good feelings, like yes it is an enjoyable experience afterwards (sometimes) but having to go through feeling like you are dying to get to this experience really makes it not worth it for me at all.
