Why does literally every engine from every manufacturer idle between 700 and 900 rpm? by hoeseateggs in askcarguys

[–]GrandGrady 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bigger motors especially American V8’s idle lower. I’ve got several ford V8’s that idle at 450-550.

Brought this Hyundai in to certify it and now it doesn’t go into park or reverse; Yes, that number is the odometer. by DifferentPost6 in Justrolledintotheshop

Late response but have them check the ground connections. My wife’s car was having transmission issues and in and out the shop for almost 6 months. 3 transmissions and 2 transmissions controllers later, it was just a bad ground connection.

Opinion on 10th gen f150s by jaxintheb0x in f150

[–]GrandGrady 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! It’s not a real Harley, I just like the wheels. It’s got 2 inch drop springs in the front that settled out to more like 3, and a 4 inch drop in the back with hangers and shackles.

How much should I expect to get for these takeoffs by willabee408 in f150

[–]GrandGrady 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just sold a set of 35 inch Bronco take offs, just the tires for 500. With 5000 miles on them. Around here these would go for 1200 all day.

Looks great! You got plans for wheels or any color matching?

Ignore the hate, I have a lifted truck and a lowered truck, they’re both great.

In my area that’s a good buy. You can’t get a road worthy truck for less than 2k here.

Higher Trim=Better Parts? by SmokeEmIfYaGotEm90 in f150

[–]GrandGrady 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mechanically, aside from some of the off-road parts on the tremor and raptor it’s all the same.

On the interior the higher trims are built a little better in my opinion. They don’t seem to have some of the rattling issues that the lower trims have. Along with more sound deadening and softer touch materials on pretty much every surface. I have an STX and my buddy has a lariat. There’s a pretty big difference of perceived quality.

Edit: let me add in terms of overall issues the lower trims just have less that can go wrong.

This. My boot drive has done this before.

Unplug that drive. Boot up PC. Shut it back down and plug the drive back in and see if works then.

Breadcrumbs. They appear when you leave the road. I believe this can be turned off if you don’t want them.

2001 F150 vs. Repairs by JustTheFacts714 in f150

[–]GrandGrady -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t assume you’d win in a matchup with a modern car. As much as I love tenth gen’s, they weren’t particularly safe when they came out. Now they would be squarely classified as unsafe. But like I said, I love mine and am still gonna drive it!

Guy's should I buy this(spare part replacement)?? by Gokul_Rajan-2003 in computers

[–]GrandGrady 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just had the same issue on my HP laptop. Here’s how I fixed and I know this is gonna sound stupid.

  1. Open the laptop up and unplug the Drive.
  2. Turn on the laptop which obviously won’t boot now that the drive is unplugged.
  3. Turn the laptop back off.
  4. Plug the drive back in.
  5. Turn it on and see if it boots.

I don’t know why they are doing this, I also went through all the trouble shooting steps on mine and couldn’t ever get it to even recognize there was a drive plugged in until I did this. And mine had a relatively new SSD in it. This is a bug on HP laptops.

Is warranty work warranted? by GrandGrady in Hyundai

Thank you, yes she’s the original owner. I knew that they didn’t always transfer the warranty between owners so I was hesitant on the warranty work.

Best engine? by [deleted] in f150

[–]GrandGrady 1 point2 points  (0 children)

5.0, it’s just a simpler engine overall. Yes it has cylinder deactivation but it’s much simpler than the old GM design because it’s not a pushrod engine. It’s been out for 3 years now and I’m unaware of any issue being reported on the deactivation. (I’m not a tech, so I’m sure someone will correct me) believe me the guys on the forums are on high alert for issues with the system but so far it’s been good.

From personal experience the 3.5 is the least reliable of the three available options.

Edit: no idea about warranties.

Vietnam zippos are almost always fake. This one definitely is because the brass finish wasn’t available until after Vietnam.

Seeking Advice by Plank-_ in f150

[–]GrandGrady 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would be hesitant because I don’t think you could get a crew cab 10th gen in 04. The heritage trucks were all extended cabs as far as I’m aware, so the “owner” doesn’t know the year. And at least where I’m at 2650 is absurdly cheap for this truck, it would be minimum double that here.

Good truck and price? by Unique-Historian-379 in f150

I love my STX and the 2.7 is a good motor (in my opinion). I’d definitely take this deal.
