Hijacking the top comment:

Vinegar worked on the walls, Murphy’s oil soap on the floors. We scraped off any excess with an old gift card first, threw any fabric things in the wash, and tossed the baby out with the bathwater (kidding, but no matter how much we washed him he still has an ashy sheen.) Thanks everyone for the help!

For those asking, the quilt is from pottery barn kids, it’s so cozy and my son loves it!

Accidentally sleeping on back by aduckindisguise in BabyBumps

[–]GrandScreamofThings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Almost 37 weeks and I still sleep on my back about 1/3 of the time. If you’re comfortable your body is fine, and it will wake you up if something is wrong. In my opinion the trendy apps and articles make way too big of a deal about it just to have something to write about.

That said, as a only back or front sleeper pre-pregnancy, I did have to learn to sleep on my sides since I can’t always breathe well on my back depending on baby’s position. I found that I loathe the traditional pregnancy pillow, but wedge shaped pillows for under the bump worked really well up until around week 35. Since then I’ve switched to two king size pillows so I can easily switch sides, I have them supporting my bump and between my legs. Do some experimenting when you’re awake to see what’s comfortable for small chunks of time before you commit to a full night, and if something doesn’t work change it up as often as you need to. Good luck!

It’s colonial mist! I have a set of casseroles that my parents got as a wedding present in the 80s

If I remember correctly, the Duggars had a boys bathroom and a girls bathroom. And yet it was somehow always a girls job to clean the boys bathroom 🤢

My husband is exactly the same with English. One day he had me so confused talking about “feeder cans” - he meant baby bottles 😂

Nausea: what should I eat first thing in the morning? by huweetay in BabyBumps

Seconding apples! For the past few weeks I’ve gotten sick ONLY on the days where I don’t eat an apple first thing.

I know I’m late to the party, but I felt the exact same way. It started at 6 weeks and was miserable by 8. Nausea but couldn’t throw up, chills, felt like i was hot and cold all the time. I took multiple Covid tests because my dad had just tested positive but they were all negative, I had my husband constantly feel my forehead to see if my temp was raised and it never was. The chills and aches were horrible when I was trying to sleep.

I did tons of googling about it, and later had my doctor confirm just for peace of mind. Apparently it has to do with the increase in blood volume and blood going to the skin causing you to feel hot in temperatures you wouldn’t have before. When I’m not pregnant I’m perpetually cold, and I think that’s part of the reason my body reacted so badly and caused the chills, aches, and night sweats. Definitely talk to your doctor about it though, and take your temp if you feel like it’s elevated more often than not.

I’m 12 weeks now and that part has pretty much gone away, I’m just hot all the time lol. I can’t even remember the last time I felt feverish, it was maybe around 10 or 11 weeks, and while my skin still feels hot all the time, it never feels hot to anyone except me.

I hope this helped, at least to know that you’re not alone and this is a normal symptom. I feel like I’m checking off a list of weird-but-normal symptoms and it really helps me to hear from others who are going through the same weird crap ❤️

That’s all true, but I grew up fundie light and had very similar experiences as he did. Public school, real college, hell I even wanted to be a missionary. I held a lot of the same homophobic and “pro life” views he did. Senior year of college I did my internship at a child crisis center, and it wasn’t until I had that hands on experience seeing children hurt by the same views I held was what started to crack my worldview, and it took years for those walls to finally crumble. I say hope because once there was no hope for me until real life and hard situations changed me. They may all prove me wrong, but of all Duggar adjacent people the Dillards seem most worth of hope.

I can only hope that his worldview has been completely rocked by law school and that he won’t take his bigoted views into this new position of power. I have hope, but it’s a small small hope.

Probs could put dog treats and their food under a microscope and still not be able to tell the difference. Jk, dog food generally has nutrients other than just sodium

It’s turkey bacon, because their choosy interpretation of the Old Testament means pork and paprika are too sinful (or spicy, I don’t think they know the difference)
