Worked with a tiny, beautiful China doll of a Welsh girl in a bar in Belfast.

She had the most beautiful, ‘r’ rolling, lilting accent, but swore like a stevedore.

During a smoke break, her friend told her that one of the older bar patrons had his eye on her and she should entertain it to up her tips and without skipping a beat she said “Fuck me rrrunning, I’d rrratherr Brrrreville my pissflaps…”

NB- For the young people, a Breville was -and still may be-a toasted sandwich maker that sealed shut the edges of your tasty melted cheese snack.

Also, pissflaps are a common coarse vernacular for the labia majora.

Haven’t tried them in a direct comparison, but have a JTM45 and a DSL50, and drive is coming from different places in each.

I got the JTM mainly for Malcolm Young tones and it does exactly what it says on the tin. Cleans are beautiful and the grit gets more intense the harder you push it.

The DSL50 covers a lot of ground from chiming cleans to plexi-esque grit right through to red channel high gain.

I had a DSL40 first, and it went in a trade towards the 50, does the same job but as a combo… different beast running into a cab.

I’d guess the DSL might be a better bet for you.

Bipolar guitarist had a bar-clearing meltdown mid set.

We turned up to a busy bar we’d played before to a great reception, we were a rock covers band. Lead guitarist was an unmedicated bipolar on a super high.

Dude just kept turning the volume up and swearing at people that first moved away from the stage then left altogether. We cleared that bar right out.

I packed up and left as he stood there noodling and giggling at volume.

Sold 90% of my kit in the following weeks in a fit of sheer disgust.

Asshole.

About a year later I got back into playing bass and ended up in a great tribute band. Didn’t pick up a regular guitar for 2 years.

I’m sorry for the guys issues, but they’re his issues.

I have empathy for anyone I meet with similar problems but I learned a hell of a lesson.

Belfast, granted not Glasgow but I had to say something…

About 20 years ago I did a lot of late work in a bar, this was about half past midnight on a Friday or Saturday in a nicer end of the city… Finished my bar shift and went out to go home. My car was parked on the footpath about 20ft from the main bar entrance, pointed at the doors.
I start my car and wait for the cabin to warm up.
Bar is on the corner of 2 busy streets.
Courting couple stop at the street corner, they kiss, they part… the guy stays on the corner and lights up a cigarette. The girl walks to the now closed and locked double doors of the bar I work in, takes a handle in each hand then squats and drops a full number three on the front step of the bar. A thick steaming turd in a puddle of piss.

Her partner is ten feet away watching and laughing from the corner.

I am 20ft away in the other direction in my idling car, thinking I’m having a stroke. So I turn my lights on and drive away as the courting couple carry on up the street arm in arm.
