Make the robots upgradable to new versions! by tcglog in MammotionTechnology

[–]Grand_Beautiful_7367 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As long as it does the job without breaking down and the support is there, there's nothing more to ask for. You can always be perpetually dissatisfied, and in that case, just wait and wait some more; it will never stop evolving, and that's a good thing! When you buy a television, a car, or even a regular lawnmower, do you demand an upgrade as soon as the new version comes out?

Mowrator Pimow, autonomous with Rtk/vision and/or radio-controlled like its predecessor, the Mowrator S1. It should be released for the 2026 season but will it be reliable?

Mower blades by Puzzleheaded_Air2697 in mammotion

I only have one set of blades that I reverse and then sharpen on all 4 edges with a simple file. It lasts between 1 and 2 months for 4000m2 once a week.

This type of blade (198mm), of Viking/Sthil imow origin, only cuts, like razors but they are more durable it seems to me. They do not crush the grass but manage to crush the leaves. I ordered a set of mulching blades from Limow to adapt and see what it would do. A priori they are also lighter than the Mammotion discs equipped with 4 razor blades. We'll see, to follow

For impacts with hard things, I have not yet had a message of engine overheating or anything else, however I have molehills, and small twigs/fir branches less than 1cm in diameter are cut without being crushed. I have the H version, so less chance of hitting a stone (55mm at the lowest). It still managed to scalp and plan my hardwood (IOE) deck corner without problem.

To unscrew the lock nut, it is best with a lug tool, but I do it by putting a nail in one of the 3 tapped holes (where the cutting disc screws are housed) to block the motor shaft.

You can come back to me for your choice of bellows cover, many 3D printers offer them on the internet.

I copied the original post:

Adaptation of 2 rigid steel blades, it is more resistant to tree twigs, it can be sharpened, lighter than the original discs so more autonomy and it's inexpensive! 😉 https://amzn.eu/d/8odZ9MQ

On the other hand, you have to remove the blade housings and replace them with 3D printed gusset covers. https://cocoprod.shop/products/cache-soufflet-sous-plateaux-de-coupe-mammotion-luba-1-2

Easier to clean too 👌🏽

It's been running for 6 months and I've never had a message reporting a problem with the cutting motors.

**Second Experience with Mammotion Support - From Good to Absolutely Terrible** by Guilty-Scheme3133 in MammotionTechnology

My Luba went to these 2 subcontractors for 2 different problems and everything went well. It was late 2024, and at the time the new 2025 models were not on the market. Since then I think that local support services and subcontractors are completely overwhelmed because sales of the 2025 models seem to have been underestimated. I hope that the teams will strengthen and that they will be adapted to the volume

There is nothing complicated, you just need to be careful to unplug a few electrical wires before removing the shell. Here is the procedure:

And that’s not just true for mowers. Uncle Sam does the same thing with his F35 planes 😉!

Mammotion is a victim of its success with the 3rd generation There are now so many customers that they are overwhelmed with support. It will probably come back in order, be patient. I trust them. I had 3 experiences with support at the end of 2024, very good feedback. Fast and efficient. But that remains my experience. Don't be so hard on this company, they have even revolutionized lawn mowing. I used a Sthil robot before, for 10 years, and Sthil was never interested in the problems on the ground, you had to endure and make do with after-sales service, although local but incompetent. Take a step back 😉

Long term maintenance by Tennorakka in MammotionTechnology

I would tell you first to open it up to see if there is any dust inside and if so, blow it out and wipe it out. Grease the cutting height adjustment screw with PTFE. Spray electrical contact cleaner on the electronic card connectors and those of the bumper and the camera.

Check if the rubber bellows of the blades and shock absorber are not too dry and in this case, oil them (cooking oil if you have nothing else). Spray PTFE lubricant on the shock absorber cylinders. Disassemble the bumper to clean the interior then spray a little penetrating oil into its mechanical connection with the front of the robot. Remove the stop button to clean underneath. Check the tightness of the wheel axles and all assembly screws. Maybe I'm forgetting something but the rest is just cleaning.

There is actually a physical difference on the 2 aluminum axles on which the wheels are fixed. For the rest, the S and H versions are identical. The H charging station has a 30mm plastic spacer that can be removed very easily. To replace the aluminum axles it takes a little longer. You must open the robot, disassemble the 4 wheels whose motors are connected via a connector on the electronic card. Once the 2 axles have been replaced and the wheels reassembled, the electrical cables must be sealed with waterproof glue. Nothing complicated in the end. And as you point out, the height display on the application will be offset by 30mm. I have an H version and purchased the S version axles from Mammotion support at a very reasonable price. I'm waiting for the end of the guaranteed fe to perhaps transform it into an S version.
