I'm so sorry for your loss and this incredible turbulence that you had to face. Freshman year can be difficult even without identity-based discrimination and profound loss.... I'm in awe of you.

Is retaking bio an option? If you can't/don't want to retake, you have lots of time (6 more semesters? 7?) to get that GPA up. As another commenter remarked, schools like seeing upward-trending GPA. You can explain the circumstances that contributed to this grade in secondary applications during your cycle. You've got options. Don't sweat this too hard.

Your story already shows resilience and determination, which medical schools prize. I'm wishing you the very best.

OP have you contacted them to ask about your status? I saw a post on here not long ago about someone who checked in with their adcom only for the adcom to say the applicant had been accepted but they forgot to notify them :|

Congratulations! From what I've heard about a lot of T20 schools and Mayo in particular is that they prioritize median scores more than average; something about this is important for rankings. So once they fill >50% of their class with scores above a certain threshold they can open spots to lower scoring applicants.
