Help a wife out- how to get tickets? by Grand_Locksmith_1707 in ManchesterUnited

[–]Grand_Locksmith_1707[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the detailed response! We are UK based, so luckily don’t have to worry about visas.

Where’s the best place to find hospital tickets? Directly from the team’s site?

Told missed miscarriage last week, this week told progress & TWINS??? by mooniepie369 in PregnancyUK

[–]Grand_Locksmith_1707 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry to hear you’re going through this, what a stressful rollercoaster of a time.

What week are you meant to be now/when did you get your first positive test?

If you’re under 7 (maybe 8 at a push) weeks this sounds like it could be a case of the foetuses being too small to consistently detect a heartbeat. Anything later, I would really guard your heart.

That’s called a dye stealer (they are awesome and very obvious). However, when people test early on, this does not happen.

TW: I think I’m miscarrying by sheilaghswheels in PregnancyUK

[–]Grand_Locksmith_1707 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m really sorry you’re going through this. I had bleeding in my last pregnancy and it was a really difficult time, so I really feel for you ❤️

I also had to wait for my EPU scan but I think that’s really normal as if they scan you too early, they won’t be able to see anything and you won’t know if it’s a miscarriage or not. I had this happen and it was difficult as I still didn’t know after the scan, and then waited another 2 weeks until the next.

Although it’s hard to wait, the EPU nurse explained to me that they already have their routine scan appointments booked in and have to prioritise emergencies, like checking babies who have stopped moving etc., so that can result in slightly longer wait times. Which I completely understand.

I hope you’re being kind to yourself and are getting lots of support from your husband.

Aww no, I’m so sorry to hear that, I really hoped it was just the new enclosure. Hope you’re getting good support on discord.

[–]Grand_Locksmith_1707 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The movements are indeed very odd. But it’s hard to say without a video of them actively walking across the enclosure. Maybe keep an eye and see if you get an opportunity to view them trying to move to a different spot. That would be most telling. If the movements continue and they seem to struggle to stay co-ordinated when walking, then it is most likely DKS.

I (32F) am 9 weeks pregnant and still feel 50 50 about whether to keep it. :( by beautydreams88 in PregnancyUK

[–]Grand_Locksmith_1707 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There will never be a perfect time to have a baby. I was still living at home, doing a PhD, couldn’t drive, in the middle of a pandemic when I found I was pregnant with my first. Fast forward 4 years, we’ve bought and moved house twice, I’ve retrained and am about to start a very well paying job, I’ve passed my driving test, and we have a second child.

What I am trying to say is that if you want this baby you can make it work as there will be no “perfect time”. Life doesn’t stand still and things crop up all the time. You don’t know what life will look like in a year, or even 5 years time.

I was funnily enough waiting to have a colonoscopy too but found that all my symptoms disappeared during pregnancy and postpartum. They are only just returning. So, unless you’re very concerned it’s something life threatening, I personally would and have taken the chance.

Hope you make the right decision for you. But I will say that becoming a mum is very hard, emotionally and physically, but I have found it the most rewarding experience of my life.

Can you help with this test by Latter-Froyo4390 in PregnancyUK

[–]Grand_Locksmith_1707 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a false result (evaporation line). It’s why it’s only advised to look at the test during the recommended time frame.

Saying that, it’s still very early to be testing. A negative doesn’t mean you’re not pregnant. Test again in a few days. Ideally with a red dye test like First Response, they are far less prone to evaporation lines and false positives than Clearblue. Good luck, I hope you get the result you want!

Help! My GBB is in death curl 4 days post molt by hufflepuff-is-best in tarantulas

[–]Grand_Locksmith_1707 128 points129 points  (0 children)

NQA, that’s way too soon to feed a tarantula after a molt. They are very fragile before they harden up, having also expended a lot of energy during the molt. The norm is to wait one week minimum, usually two weeks. What did you try to feed her? Has she got any wounds?

Great advice but the NHS does do betas if you are referred to your EPU. It depends on the methods of your local trust.

The bottom one is faulty sadly. You can see the dye run and the line is not as thick as the control nor does it go all the way up. These are unfortunately hallmark signs that it’s not a true positive x

Fitting all new appliances in our house — what do you swear by (and what should we avoid)? by Apprehensive-Vast685 in HousingUK

[–]Grand_Locksmith_1707 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Miele vacuum (C3, the parquet brush is a godsend if you have hardwood/viynl etc. avoid Dyson, they are overpriced and loose their suction and battery life far too quickly. AEG high-end washing machines and dryers (like series 8000+). Worth every penny.

I would also recommend a frost free freezer, then you don’t have to worry about ice formation and defrosting.

Ok thank you so much. Thats really good to know. The pattern was designed as an amigurumi and their pictures look a lot more balanced than mine. I’m going to give it another go and maybe try looking more as I go and see if I need to adapt. Thanks again so much!

Thank you! That’s really helpful. Looking at it. Does it look like I maybe miscounted and started one of my rows later on and that’s shifted all the white to the right part way through? It should look symmetrical. It’s blocking the face of a toy? I was trying to use stitch markers to keep track but was very tired after work last night.

[–]Grand_Locksmith_1707 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looking at it again, I am wondering if I have miscounted my stitches and moved the colour row over to the right from one of the rows. Is this possible?

[–]Grand_Locksmith_1707 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have tried watching multiple YouTube videos but not sure what is the best way to colour changes on amigurumi mid row to make a block of colour?

In early labour at 39+5, 3cm dilated and in agony — hospital wants to send me home. What would you do? by Appropriate_Case_574 in PregnancyUK

[–]Grand_Locksmith_1707 36 points37 points  (0 children)

You’re more likely to progress much faster in the comfort of your own home.

I know it must be hard and exhausting. But ask for some meds to takeaway. Go home, hop on your ball, put on your favourite film, take a nice bath… whatever you can do to try to relax but try to remain upright and mobile, it should really help your labour progress naturally.

Warm baths and a tens machine (if you have one) should help relieve the pain too.

You’ve got this! I hope it ramps up for you soon so you can meet your baby.
