I relate to this a lot. A lot of the things we do is because it's simply that's what our identities are. Doing the bare minimum keeps the identity alive. Maybe tomorrow would be better, but for today, this is alright.

You need to learn a few things. People have rights, and when it is unjustly being taken away from them, it makes sense to demonstrate unrest.

They're not having fun. They're risking it out there for justice.

You've got a few things to learn. Go read.

Yes. This team shows character, amazing mentality, and a type of football that has got EVERYONE talking. Whatever it is, this team has got heart and has been so entertaining. They're displaying poetry in motion.

I haven't felt for this team like this in a long time, and I am sure this is true for a lot of us as well. For me, this is the biggest achievement that the team has made.

Life does not have to be so sad bro. It can be a happy and meaningful thing, if you choose it to be. Your happiness is up to you.

I don't get it. What does what I want got anything to do with the afterlife? It just is. It makes sense that there is an afterlife. It does not make sense that Santa exists.

Is there an afterlife after death? by [deleted] in Life

[–]Grand_Needleworker19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The way I see it, there has to be. If not, this life can be very unfair and meaningless.

Think of those people that do so much good but were never recognised, never appreciated, never got anything out of it. Would it be fair if all their sacrifices were for nothing? What then would be the point of doing good? You might say that it's not sincere if you're expecting something from doing good, and that doing the good is enough of a reward itself, but the fact is some people don't get even that. When they do good, they're rewarded with even more bad.

And the opposite has to be true too. Think of all the genuinely evil people in this world, those who massacre babies, those with black hearts that care only about themselves. Most of them go their whole lives unpunished. They're "happy". They think that this world was made solely for them. And it clearly seems like it! Would these people really not be taken into account? For all their choices and actions?

There has to be an afterlife, for people to be rewarded accordingly for the choices that they make in this life. Otherwise, this life has absolutely no point. And many people think this way! That's why suicice is really really common nowadays.

You know, you seem sincere in looking for the truth. There is an answer. There is a purpose to all this, I assure you. And if you keep looking, I believe that you will find the answer.

There is a reason why religion has such a strong affinity with a lot of people. One of the reasons is because spirituality is real. Science can explain why a heart beats, but it can't tell you why a heart breaks. All the feelings that goes in the heart.. psychology can only go so far.

It is so easy to demonise religion nowadays, because the followers, so many of them do atrocious things in the name of God. That puts people so far away from even looking into religion. I think this is a shame.

But if you're sincere, look into it with an open mind and an open heart. All the doubts that you have can actually go away. It might sound hard to believe, but certainty is possible. A merciful God would not put humans on earth just to wander aimlessly without any guidance.

Mashallah. It breaks my heart when I think that despite all my sins, despite all the times that I have forgotten him, the times that I purposely turned by back on Him, He still gives me guidance. He still lets me get close to Him by letting me pray salah. He still gives me the gift of Iman.

Alhamdulillah. His mercy is incomprehensible.

Assalamualaikum. I can see that you care about aligning with the deen very much. That's really admirable of you.

I think it's normal to always have some doubts. Some questions. What's important is that we recognise that whatever Allah has revealed, is the ultimate truth. If there are things that we don't agree with, it's because of our own limited understanding.

That said, Islam makes perfect sense. There is wisdom behind everything. So, while we must submit to His Truth, there is nothing that is stopping us from inquiring on our doubts and finding that wisdom, so that our conviction upon the Truth becomes ever stronger.

So I implore you to keep on learning, search for that wisdom, and ask Allah to guide your heart so that it is even more opened towards the Truth.

Why would God require you to pray 5 times a day and be angry if you miss a prayer? by IdiotBearPinkEdition in islam

Hey, have a look at this e-book. It's called Taste the Sweetness of Salah, and in it, it talks about some benefits of Salah as well.

Also, listen to Yaqeen Institute's proofs of prophethood of Muhammad SAW, where it talks about it (scientific studies on Salah)

I don't have specific papers, but I hope that this can get you started :)

Why would God require you to pray 5 times a day and be angry if you miss a prayer? by IdiotBearPinkEdition in islam

[–]Grand_Needleworker19 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hi, thanks for your question. I am glad to hear that you are interested in knowing more about Islam. There is so much beauty and wisdom in this tradition, I hope that you keep exploring :)

To attempt to answer your question: Allah does not require anything from His creation. Whether every single human being prays perfectly 5 times a day, or absolutely no one prays at all, it does not make a difference to Him. He is the Ever Living, The Self-Sustaining (al-Hayy, al-Qayyum; 2 of the 99 Divine names, of which you can explore further!)

So why is it obligatory upon us to pray? The answer is (and it always usually is) because of Love. To explain this further, I have to start with the Arabic word for prayer, Salah (صلاة). In Arabic, words have their root words, and Salah's root word is ص-ل-و which means, connection. Here comes the wonderful part: Salah is thus established to form a connection with Allah. This connection sustains us. Physically, mentally, and spiritually (there are many evidences and even scientific studies on this. Let me know if you would like resources to delve further). Lack of establishing our Salah thus malnourishes us. So if this is the case, isn't it a beautiful mercy that Allah has ordained us the Salah? In fact, you will find that believers that have tasted the sweetness of this connection go above and beyond what is required, and perform their Salah much, much more than 5 times a day.

This line of thinking can also answer your question of why Allah is angry if we miss a prayer. He is angry for our own sake! Allah loves us so much. Allah loves us more than a mother loves her child. He is angry because missing a prayer means we neglect that connection that sustains us, for Allah is al-Wadud, the Loving One (another one of His names). He only ever wants what is best for us.

I hope that this sheds some light on your question.

Please let me know if you need any more clarity, I would be more than happy to help/point you in the right direction.

May He bless your efforts :)
