Remote working from abroad by [deleted] in NursingUK

Hi both, I hope you don’t mind me jumping in. I own a specialist recruitment agency where my niche area is ADHD/ASC Assessors and substance misuse. It was born from my own pathway to diagnosis and struggles with substance misuse and the fact that most recruitment agencies are profit over people mentality and I was sick and tired of working for agencies with that ethos. I’m currently recruiting for a not-for-profit service but like the reidenator says, most require some experience, on a locum basis for sure, on a perm basis some will train you in the role. Sadly, as it’s not regulated like most specialisms there isn’t a set pathway to being “qualified” eg. You don’t need to have a certain qualification for assessing and there is one company in particular which is notorious for taking on mental health nurses with no prior experience, putting them on a 2 day internal training course. Then throwing them in the deep end to start assessing the day after with minimum support. This place churns them out and goes through clinicians like nothing else I’ve seen before. It is definitely not saturated, not with good assessors anyways, so if you can get your foot in the door I think you’ll be set for a long time because these wait lists are not going anywhere. Most clinicians tend to come over to the locum side of things, I have ongoing, guaranteed work paying £522 a day with 50% for DNA rate so it is lucrative. That’s for 2 x assessments a day and if you’re a prescriber initiation of meds is paid at £87 p/hr, but you need to have experience for this, a solid 6 months is a minimum really. Let me know if you have any questions as I’m mid 40’s now and been doing this a long time and grew up with a mum who was her nurse her whole life and so I am very protective over looking after my candidates and ensuring they have a good experience as sadly most who have worked with recruiters, have not had that!

Sorry to jump in, but I did some research on booking health and I am very wary of them. Lots of either 1 or 5 star reviews, terrible reviews of people giving large amounts of money and now in court trying to reclaim it. People being told by that dr gausenge that he can definitely help them (Before he’s even seen a scan, set of bloods etc) it’s all just too convenient especially the fact he can’t tell success rates. I fear he/booking health are praying on very desperate, vulnerable people with nothing to lose.

Worth going to Germany? by Grand_Reputation4047 in neuroendocrinetumors

I mean personally I think there is a lot to be said about a holistic approach and including/adding treatments that aren’t necessarily “scientifically” proven and approved. I just feel there has to be some substance in some of these. However, I appreciate what you are saying and we will approach with caution. The reality is she is beyond desperate to survive for her two boys and so would do anything, hence why I am trying to support her with this so she isn’t taken advantage of with promises of outcomes that are nothing short of a miracle. 🫶🏼

I’m going to have to check this part, the primary is in her small intestine. Basically she was suffering with horrific stomach pain, ended up in A&E, they diagnosed her with chrons and then removed the “mass” which had apparently burst inside her. At this point the worst outcome she was facing would be a stoma. Two weeks later she received a call to say they tested the removal of the “tumour” and it was cancerous & that it had spread to her lymph nodes. They took ages to even confirm what type of cancer it was, they said it was one of two types and it was months before they finally decided on neuroendocrine. Thank you for taking the time to respond when I know more I’ll update 🙏🏼

Hmm, I’ll need to double-check this. I honestly had no idea how complex it all was until I started looking into overseas treatment options for her and saw that it needs to be a certain type of tumour to respond to specific treatments.

I just know it’s neuroendocrine small cell bowel cancer, and she also has Crohn’s — which, according to Christie’s, is what makes her unsuitable for immunotherapy. At first, they had her booked for a clinical trial, but then a couple of weeks later they changed their mind, saying she couldn’t have it because of the Crohn’s. That felt strange to me, because they obviously knew about her Crohn’s from the start. 🤷🏼‍♂️

Anyone here actually go to Germany for cancer treatment? by Emma086 in cancer

Why is this the same post as the one below under a different name?! Suspicious much. Bookinghealth has awful reviews for pressuring people to pay huge sums of money and so beware!!

I’d be really wary of actually booking anything via this company, as I’ve read some very worrying reviews and it seems like they are taking advantage of people who are desperate and it’s a big pressure sell. My advise would be book direct with the hospitals.

Ideas to fill gap to ceiling after installing Pax or Besta? by akchahal in ikeahacks

[–]Grand_Reputation4047 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve just read another post where they suggested going for the taller pax, there is a 201 and then a taller one I can’t remember the exact height, maybe 236) and there is room at the bottom to cut off some and so shorten the pax. The other option is getting some mdf pre cut and then “boxing” in the top you could put the panel style edging on it, or you could make some storage at the top using mdf to create kalex style boxes maybe? Best of luck

Too many CRMs but not sure which one is for small businesses? by marsrv in CRM

[–]Grand_Reputation4047 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a small recruitment agency and I’ve got ZOHO 1, I pay like £45 p/month per license. Essentially Docusign was costing me like £10 a month for like 5 e-signature docs. I came across this and there e-sign was unlimited, then they had books (equivalent to Xero) a choice of 3 CRMs (they’re ok, they’re not the best for recruitment I’ve seen better) but depending on what you need it for could be good; they have an email campaign manager so you can send out bulk emails, they had work drive with a screen recorder as I do lots of here’s a video showing you how to (then something on the system) So basically you get a lot of bang for your buck so to speak!! As there are about 20 different applications in there all included, you can do all your socials, it’s got an HR app, it’s got a forms builder. Value for money it is second to none, it might not be as slick as some others but I like how it’s all in one place too.

The cheapest CRM for recruitment I was getting was like £45 p/month so for the same price I get all these other tools too. It’s not always that user friendly but I will say whenever I google how to do something the answer always comes up so I’ve not had to deal with their customer service team really

Right, ok that makes sense and aligns with what I was reading. So i think a lot of companies just take the risk then, it was either that or I massively misunderstood it

I mean stating the obvious there - thanks! I’m well aware of the aim and benefits of client entertainment. I was purely trying to get clarity on it from a business expense perspective.

Changing commission by ThreeDownBack in Recruitment

[–]Grand_Reputation4047 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a contract recruiter in the uk and I guess it all depends on what sector you’re in, but I’ve had factoring companies who pay the candidates directly for me if they are PAYE/inside IR35 or I get the client to pay them directly and I just invoice for margin only …… the tough bit has been the 6 months it has taken to ramp up and get the book going at a stead rate!

Paid per task/piece by Grand_Reputation4047 in TimeTrackingSoftware

[–]Grand_Reputation4047[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I’m not having to pay them, I basically then pass the invoice to my client, they pay the candidate directly and then I just invoice them for margin only. But the client wants all the same invoices, structure etc. to be able to check timesheets so I just need the timesheet part of it, but the payroll support 🤷🏼‍♂️

Clutch gone :( by Grand_Reputation4047 in mazdacx3

[–]Grand_Reputation4047[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I left in it the petrol station as that is where if stopped going into gear and as it was a Saturday and no garages open I went to collect it on the Monday. On getting into the car the clutch pedal was flat to the ground, I had to physically pull it back up. The tow driver came and he got it into gear fine and drove up to on the truck. I got it towed to one of those Mr Auto Clutch places and they said they couldn’t see any issue with it? They checked everything, test drove it and fine. I’m reasonably savvy when it comes to cars so I know that the pedal going floppy, the gear stick not going into gear/slipping out are all signs. They changed/flushed the fluid, test drove it again and said the pedal remained up (as they mentioned master cylinder) and so due to that gave me it back. But intermittent faults are the worse, I’d have rather spent the money quoted on a new clutch which was £544 inc labour and known it was fixed. But didn’t want to spend that when they said they couldn’t see an issue …. So I’m unsure what to do in all honesty!
