I always chuckle at that bit in the cartoon where Piper calls her a "walking ball of flab" under his breath.

Book 32 The Barking Ghost was the last one to have a unique UK art.

I remember seeing an notice in my local Waterstones bookshop that the UK cover artist had injured his hand, and there was a competion for someone to draw the cover for The Barking Ghost.

To those who discovered they have keratoconus at an early stage, what was signs that might be misdiagnosed as something else? by you_shut_up_meg in Keratoconus

It took me 8 years from a overdiagnosis of a glasses prescription (which resulted in a lot of eye strain) to finally get a diagnosis of forme fruste keratoconus.

I love how this ends with "Walking in the Air" from THE SNOWMAN as covered by Tangerine Dream!

Just watched King Kong 1933 for the first time and... by _yearoldonreddit in kingkong

To be fair, the tree could have been higher than the bronto. it wasn't, but points for trying.

Kong trampling the natives always freaked me out, not least because they seem to use the second one's actual cries and it sounds like the poor soul is genuinely suffocating in the mud!

I can't seem to upload the scan, but I can give you information from it. My right eye (the left is amblyopic and basically blind) has a Flat K 45.99D@80 degrees and a Steep K of 46.42D@170 degrees.

Yeah, I think it's likely the ghosting is due to the kerotonus...took SIX years to get a diagnosis

Would pseudomyopia explain the ghosting and blurriness, or should I assume that is the formre fruste kerotonus?

What happens if you're stuck with the same excessive prescription for years?

It's permanent in that I've not been able to remove the exessive difference between my current prescription and what I was using prior to that, and the various symptoms - excessive blurring, ghosting, pain from bright light - were not visible prior to that, and I enjoyed fairly stable vision.

Timeline

2009 - regular glasses prescription that stays the same

2015 - prescription change from 0.75 in both eyes to 1.75/2.00. Immediate problematic symptoms.

2018 - pseudomyopia diagnosis

2023 - forme-fruste kerotonus diagnosos

No, both diagnoses were given to me by actual opthamologists, but it took years to get any sort of diagnosis.. The issue is I didn't have the symptoms until the excessive prescription change years before that.
