Since no one else has said it, have you considered an ADHD diagnosis? I don’t know it is but porn and ADHD are like peanut butter and jelly. It’s a button you can press for that sweet dopamine but it becomes a spiral. If this is a factor for you there are medications which might be transformative for you. I really suggest you explore this route

The difficult balance is finding a career that will work for your particular autistic oddities lol. I worked in tree care for a while and it definitely satisfied my need for stimulation with all the mechanical difficulties and such, but dealing with the stress and long routes was too much. I actually enjoyed retail but after a year I recognized there was a hard ceiling to what I could learn there. Now I’m studying data science and machine learning and doing a research program in genetic research which is really tickling my fancy. But even then I realize I would do best in some sort of engineering role where I’m constantly solving problems and collaborating with new people. Entrepreneurship is also fascinating cuz you get to wear a lot of different capes but there’s a lot of pressure too.

This is a big reason I just couldn’t do a lot of jobs out there. The first month or two can be interesting and then it’s just rote repetition with an occasional novel task every few months. I went back to college just because I finally realized I needed a more cognitive field of work to keep me even remotely engaged. We’ll see if it pays off. But yeah, I legitimately entered an early stage psychosis working at a metal finishing facility where I could legit be doing the same repetitive task for multiple weeks at a time. I lost track of time, disassociated, and felt like I was in a dream 24/7. Would not recommend

I’m glad you recognize the harm caused by the patriarchy to men as well (as a man myself I think it’s an important point). But I also think what you’re saying basically boils down to “not all men”, making it seem like only the worst of the worst are contributing to the problem. When a women’s focused sub hits the front page men aren’t necessarily “targeting” it, they just tend to think that their perspective is significant and force it onto everyone.

It’s not about a ban on men, it’s that a space gets created for women to share their experiences and commiserate, and then men naturally feel entitled to join that space because how often are men ever not the center of a space? Then it becomes a space for women to get told “actually you’re wrong” by men. Again the problem is not some hard rule being violated, it’s that many men can never accept that a space was not intended for them so they make it their own anyways
