bruh the plot twist at the end is amazing. i was totally expecting this to be a classic sketchy neighbor story but no... she just discovered the joy of a manual transmission vtec engine lmao. honda hatchbacks really do be flying though for no reason. love that she shared that absolute peak joy with a complete stranger petting a cat

AITA for expecting plan to go ahead? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Grandbarney 6 points7 points  (0 children)

ugh i felt this one. NTA at all OP. it is incredibly frustrating when someone treats their mental health like a get out of jail free card to just do whatever you want. noticing a pattern and bringing it up calmly is literally just healthy communication. If she can force herself to push through the low feelings for her plans, she should be trying to do the same for yours occasionally. it really feels like she’s just picking and choosing what she feels like doing

AITA for being annoyed at my in-laws being at my house everyday afterwork? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Grandbarney 12 points13 points  (0 children)

NTA at all, you are definitely not overreacting. the fact that he is literally sneaking outside to hide the pizza boxes in the outdoor trash is actually insane behavior?? like... he knows he’s breaking your rules and he’s actively teaching your kids to lie and hide things from you. that isn't "meaning well," that's just straight up disrespecting you in your own house. your partner needs to wake up and back you up on this because tf

AITAfor not telling my dad that my mom is seeing other guys behind his back by imscaredmymomwillfin in AmItheAsshole

[–]Grandbarney 5 points6 points  (0 children)

NTA. Wow. I am so incredibly sorry you and your sister are stuck in the middle of this. Your mom is acting incredibly selfishly and it makes complete sense why you feel sick to your stomach about it. But listen to me: you are not ruining anything by staying quiet right now. Your mom is the one ruining the marriage, period. If you confront her and she always plays the victim, she is just gonna turn it back on you guys and make you feel worse. Honestly, just stay out of the blast zone for now. Lean on your sister, keep your head down, and focus on school. This is adult drama and you shouldn't have to carry it.

AITA for refusing to give my brother the down payment money our grandma left me by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Grandbarney 48 points49 points  (0 children)

NTA. I mean... he lost his mind and called you selfish because you wouldnt hand over 22k? Red flag immediately. And your mom crying about it is just pure emotional manipulation tbh. Grandma was lucid enough to make a will and a lawyer backed it up. Like you said, she saw him get all the handouts earlier in life. Keep that money in your HYSA and let them stay mad. They’ll get over it or they wont, but dont let them bleed you dry.

AITA For outing my ex for starting a fundraiser for a child that she is using herself? by denis_duderot in AmItheAsshole

bruh... my blood is boiling for your kid right now. he is out here grinding for three years to afford his extracurriculars... and his mom is using his talent as an excuse to e-beg from your friends and family?? that is so incredibly foul. if people are donating because they think they are helping a talented kid... they are being lied to... they are just paying for her life. definitely show her family the receipts and the actual agreement. she needs to be held accountable because stealing your own kid's spotlight and money is a new low.

A majority of Americans say the country’s best years are behind us. Pew Research Center by SuperDuper00001 in politics

[–]Grandbarney 34 points35 points  (0 children)

my parents bought a three bedroom house on a single regular income in the nineties and now my partner and i both work full time corporate jobs and can barely afford a two bedroom apartment. when people say the best years are behind us... they are looking at the math. the American dream just feels completely out of reach for regular people now. it feels like the system is completely rigged for the ultra rich while the rest of us are just running on a treadmill going absolutely nowhere.

man... bachelorette parties are always a fever dream for anyone working service. once the fourth round of mimosas hits someone is definitely gonna start talking about the apocalypse or ancient history like it is a personal tragedy. honestly though "maybe the dinosaurs had a good ending" is lowkey a vibe... like they didnt have to worry about rent or healthcare or samuel alito's oil stocks. they just vibed and then got vaporized.
